## Proposed changes
`ApplicationConfiguration.TraceConfiguration` still existed as a live
configuration surface after `ITelemetryContext` was introduced, which
made the migration path unclear. This change makes that legacy surface
explicitly discoverable as transitional API and points consumers to the
telemetry-based replacement.
- **Public API guidance**
- Marks `ApplicationConfiguration.TraceConfiguration` as obsolete with a
message directing consumers to `ITelemetryContext` and `ILogger`-based
diagnostics.
- Keeps the property functional so existing configuration loading and
legacy trace application continue to work during migration.
- **Internal compatibility**
- Adds targeted `CS0618` suppressions at the remaining internal legacy
call sites that intentionally preserve `TraceConfiguration` behavior.
- Avoids broad warning suppression; only the compatibility path is
annotated.
- **Coverage**
- Adds a focused reflection-based test that verifies the property is
marked obsolete and that the migration message stays stable.
```csharp
[Obsolete("Use ITelemetryContext and ILogger-based diagnostics instead.")]
public TraceConfiguration TraceConfiguration { get; set; }
```

## Further comments
This is intentionally narrow in scope: it clarifies the migration path
without removing the legacy trace pipeline yet. The change is limited to
surfacing the deprecation at the public configuration boundary and
isolating the remaining intentional legacy usages.

This change adds a **new Opc.Ua.Types** nuget that contains core types that do not rely on generated code. Why the name? Because almost all code that was in the Types subfolder is part of it, and because we do not want to change the name of the Opc.Ua.Core nuget/assembly because code relies on it. Any other name like base or bootstrap felt out of place due to the current structure already defining the name "types". Key design is to depend on only a small set of libraries with limited transitive dependencies, that includes hashcode, logging.abstraction, and for non standard20 builds System.Text.Json (needed for localizedText mul parsing). Also, key is to support .netstd 2.0 to support source generators and to allow removal of EEC_SUPPORT defines by removing std2.0 from core and all libraries.
The changes are mostly restructuring, and thus small but contain some key changes:
- **Status code** struct now comes with a Symbol field, which is used to carry symbols in case the code is not generated. Currently (until generated) the status code struct must be manually created with a symbol or the ToSymbolicId extension must be called in the core project. Future will generate Status code constants just like NodeId that contain the symbol which also removes the reflection-based lookup. Several tests needed to be adjusted as they checked the status code symbol strings instead of the code.
- **Core identifiers** are copied as they were needed for code to compile, that includes attributes, a subset of status codes and node identifiers. These will never change so no need to generate them.
- The types folder now contains **encoders**, except for json which is still in core. Once the json encoder is ported to system.text.json it will also be included and Newtonsoft.Json dropped as dependency (-> #3329).
- Since types relies on **IOperationContext** and **ISystemContext**, and these export IUserIdentity which relies on crypto, these were split and extended in core with ISessionOperationContext and ISessionSystemContext, which mean changes to ServerSystemContext and introduction of SessionOperationContext and SessionSystemContext classes that extend OperationContext and SystemContext. Some runtime checks in the server are therefore needed to get at the session and auth info, however, those are anyway optional fields and are not on the critical paths, and thus a type check is in order (and was done in the past already, but against OperationContext class).
- **Manifest resources** are now split between Core (nodeset zip, some generated resoures) and Types (built in bsd/xsds). This needs to be revisited later if the bsd/xsd need to be regenerated during type generation. Note that the embedded resource names changed as a result. Since these are only used internally and do not constitute public API this feels reasonable vs duplication of resources in 2 assemblies.
- Reflection however now needs to load not just the built in **encodeables** from Opc.Ua.Types assembly, but also the generated encodeables from Opc.Ua.Core assembly. For this a new helper Utils method was added to get the Core assembly when linked against Opc.Ua.Core otherwise null.
- Whatever utils methods needed to be split out into the new Opc.Ua.Types assembly, they are now in **CoreUtils** static class in Opc.Ua.Types, and Utils.xxxx forwards to them to ensure minimal changes. Later we would want to obsolete them in favor of CoreUtils, although it might make sense to split them again into domain specific utilities, such as networking, files, etc

Fix the type of RejectedStore Created by the Builder to: CertificateStoreIdentifier
A new configuration variable
<HttpsMutualTls>true</HttpsMutualTls>
enables the mutual TLS authentication support. The behavior of the TLS endpoint changes as the following:
HttpsMutualTls is true:
The server checks the trust on the certificate which is used by the client for TLS authentication. It must be a valid OPC UA application certificate which is trusted.
A client can still connect without providing a client certificate, but then it is only able to call discovery services.
In order to create a session, the client must use the same application certificate that was used for the TLS channel.
HttpsMutualTls is false:
- There is no application authentication. The server endpoint uses security None and there is no client application authentication.
Instead, only user authentication is used to secure the server, anonymous user authentication is disabled.
Discovery service calls are supported.

- Port support for ECC NIST/Brainpool profiles from prototyping_ecc branch
- Implement CertProvider to load certs per connection / profile
- Backward compatibility of configuration for existing apps
- SecurityConfiguration specifies app cert types for each profile
- Autodetect the ECC support for brainpool/nist based on platform (mac OS 10 doesn't support brainpool)
- ECC supported on net48 / net5.0 / net 6.0 / netstandard2.1
- ECC supported on windows / linux / macOS (brainpool not < macOS11)
- Self signed certs for each profile are created on start similar to RSA
- RSA only profiles are supported on .NET standard 2.0

- Add a light weight AddRejected certificate store method to `ICertificateStore` to ensure rejected cert history remains small and doesn't have a lot of overhead.
- Number of history certificates is configurable using a new `MaxRejectedCertificates` entry.
- Rejected certs are only saved to directory cert store, others do ignore the attempt
- Fix the caching of `CertificateValidator` and flag some `ÒpenStore` methods deprecated which do not support the caching. Fixes across the board to support the methodology. Basically `store.Close` keeps the cache, `store.Dispose` clears the cache, so recommendation is to use `var store = certStoreIdentifier.OpenStore(); try { ... }-- finally { store.Close }`
- Add a solution to provide fuzzer support for afl-fuzz and libfuzzer.
- Add fuzz targets for Binary, Json and Xml encoder and decoder fuzzing. For afl-fuzz and libfuzzer.
- Fix issues in encoders and decoders when unexpected exceptions are returned. The expectation is to return only ServiceResultException with BadDecodingError, BadEncodingError or BadEncodingLimitsExceeded.
- Add a tool to create Testcases.
- Add a tool to playback crashes and timeouts.
- Solution is extensible with common files to discover new fuzz targets by reflection. New fuzz projects can share many files with the first project.
- Breaking change: Fix how BinaryDecoder is used: Previously, calling close on the BinaryDecoder implicitly disposed the stream. Change behavior so that `using` pattern can be applied across the board.
* Added MaxChannelCount and detect and cleanup "stale" channels based on ChannelLifetime
* Add Environment.TickCount as time reference
* Set a socket backlog value to avoid socket open overflow
* Added a ChannelKeepAlive to signal when a session is still active
* Add options to console client to leak channels and run connect loop forever

In some use cases (e.g. Kubernetes secrets) it would be beneficial to store the certificates, private keys, crl etc. in a flat directory instead of having a root which contains a hierarchy with certs/crl/private etc.
- Modify the `DirectoryCertificateStore` to allow it to use a flat structure by adding a special constructor.
- Add the configuration builder functions to allow to specify custom certificate stores for app/user/https.
- Add a test sample which shows how to use the 'flat store' with a custom cert store wrapper.
- By default, behavior of `DirectoryCertificateStore` is unchanged. Needs an external wrapper to expose the flat mode.
- After discussion default SendCertChain to true
- Bring back part of the code which was removed by Modelcompiler to fix the BuildStatus variable
- Fix the GDS Server Push, which does not fully update the server descriptions with a chain, if sendcertchain is selected
- fix issue in macOS, when cert chains are used the X509Certificate2 constructor throws exception
- Fix a null reference exception if an invalid discovery Url is returned by the server which cannot be parsed as Uri.
- Fix AddUnsecurePolicyNone to only add that policy.
- Fix a warning due to HttpHandler MaxConnectionsPerServer property
Currently, the validated certificates are stored in a dictionary for fast compare of the certificate validation when an application reconnects, until manually cleared by e.g. `ResetValidatedCertificates()`. After discussion it was decided to make this function an opt-in feature to avoid use cases where changes in the trusted store or CRL are not reflected in the list of validated certificates.
The runtime penalty of a full check can be avoided if needed with the 'Opt-In' by configuration or by application setting the property. After opt-in it is the application responsibility to clear the list of validated certificates if needed.
+++ Other cert validator improvements/fixes
- Setting the `ValidationOptions.SuppressRevocationStatusUnknown` on a trustlist (e.g. issuer) was ignored
- If another client/server connects with a chain, the whole chain is saved to the rejected store, not only the leaf certificate.
- Move the auditing flag to server internal
- Hook up new configuration setting to the Auditing node
- A Security Admin can change the Audit setting.
- Refactor audit events to be extensions in one class.
- enable auditing and diagnostics by default for higher test coverage.
- refactor dependency of some events to bindings, e.g. TcpServerChannel should not be used as reportevent parameter
- Add methods to support to Read/Browse multiple nodes in session and NodeCache.
- Add methods to find references of multiple nodes in NodeCache.
- By default the client fetches the operation limits from the server.
- Add operation limit object to client config, settings are overwritten by server limits if server limits are smaller.
- Split client service calls if operation limits are exceeded with an override of the SessionClient. All sync/async service calls are implemented, but not the servcie calls using the Begin/End pattern.
