AutoID: keep every reader reachable from DeviceSet, and let a reader be a component of a machine (#4853)
# Description Follow-up to the AutoID companion (#4825). Two changes to where the AutoID server places its readers: 1. **`IAutoIdReaderBuilder.WithParent` is made conformant with OPC 10000-100 4.9.** Until now it placed a reader below another node *instead of* `DeviceSet`, and the docs suggested "a component of a machine" as the use case. A machine in the Machinery `Machines` folder is not reachable from `DeviceSet`, so such a reader could not be located from `DeviceSet`, which DI 4.9 requires for every `ComponentType` instance (every AutoID device type derives from DI `DeviceType`). Now the reader is still placed below the parent (`HasComponent`, unchanged), and: - when `DeviceSet` already reaches the parent through hierarchical references (for example another reader, or any device it organizes), nothing else is added: the reader is a component of a composed device and DI 4.9 wants "only the root instance" referenced from `DeviceSet`; - otherwise `DeviceSet` also organizes the reader (`Organizes`, both directions), so it stays locatable. 2. **New opt-in `IAutoIdReaderBuilder.AsComponentOf(BaseObjectState machine)`**, available only when AutoID is composed with Machinery (`AddAutoIdToMachinery`, or a DI owner that loads the Machinery model). It makes the reader an identifiable component of the machine per OPC 40001-1 11: - the reader is placed below the machine's `Components` add-in (`HasComponent`, as `MachineComponentsType` declares for `<Component>`); - it gets the `2:Identification` add-in (`HasAddIn`) typed `MachineryComponentIdentificationType`, which holds no copies: it references the reader's own DI nameplate properties with `HasProperty` (`Manufacturer`, `SerialNumber`, and those of `Model`, `ManufacturerUri`, `ProductCode`, `HardwareRevision`, `SoftwareRevision`, `DeviceRevision`, `DeviceClass`, `ProductInstanceUri` that are set, plus `AssetId`/`ComponentName` when published; `DeviceManual` and `RevisionCounter` are left out as 40001-1 10.2 recommends); - the reader stays a device: the same `DeviceSet` rule as for `WithParent` applies with `Components` as the parent, so in the usual case (a machine in `Machines` that `DeviceSet` does not reach) `DeviceSet` organizes it directly. It is not added to `Machines`. - Checked before anything is registered, each failing with `Bad_ConfigurationError` and a message naming the way out: the server has no Machinery model (names `AddAutoIdToMachinery`), the machine is not a node of the AutoID owner, the machine has no `Components` add-in (names `WithComponents`), or the reader nameplate lacks `Manufacturer` and/or `SerialNumber` (mandatory in `MachineryItemIdentificationType`). `WithParent` and `AsComponentOf` exclude each other (`InvalidOperationException`). Default behaviour is unchanged: a reader built without `WithParent`/`AsComponentOf` is organized by `DeviceSet` and not added to `Machines`. Rollback on failure covers the new references: a failed build removes the `DeviceSet` reference, the component and its add-in, so the name can be used again. ## Specification basis | Statement | Source | | --- | --- | | "The DeviceSet Object is the starting point to locate Devices. It shall either directly or indirectly reference all instances of a subtype of ComponentType with a Hierarchical Reference. For complex Devices that are composed of various components that are also Devices, only the root instance shall be referenced from the DeviceSet Object. The components of such complex Devices shall be locatable by following Hierarchical References from the root instance." | OPC 10000-100 (DI) 1.05.0, 4.9 | | AutoID device types are "Subtype of DeviceType defined in OPC 10000-100". OPC 30010 does not mention `DeviceSet`, Machinery or `Machines`. | OPC 30010 (AutoID) 1.01, 6.1 Table 7 | | "Each Machine providing this building block provides the Components Object, which directly references all identifiable components of a Machine." / "Note: That does not preclude that a Machine is organizing its components in various other hierarchies as well." | OPC 40001-1 (Machinery) 1.04.2, 11.1 | | "The MachineComponentsType provides HasComponent References to all identifiable components of a Machine"; Table 27: `0:HasComponent Object <Component> 0:BaseObjectType OP`; Table 28: `<Component> 0:HasAddIn Object 2:Identification MachineryItemIdentificationType M`; "As all identifiable components shall contain the Identification Object". | OPC 40001-1 1.04.2, 11.2 | | `MachineryItemIdentificationType`: `2:Manufacturer` M, `2:SerialNumber` M, all other members O. | OPC 40001-1 1.04.2, 8.3 Table 16 | | `MachineryComponentIdentificationType` is the component subtype of `MachineryItemIdentificationType` (adds `2:DeviceRevision`); "It is not recommended to use the optional Properties 2:RevisionCounter and 2:DeviceManual"; a missing component `2:ProductInstanceUri` "shall be omitted". | OPC 40001-1 1.04.2, 10.2 | | "it is recommended to keep this approach and let several References lead to the same Node, rather than duplicating the Node" / Robotics example: identification Properties "are only referenced from the Identification functional group". | OPC 40001-1 1.04.2, 7.3 and Annex B.2 (informative) | | "It is expected that domain-specific companion specifications using this specification will define what assets of the domain in what usage are considered to be Machines or components of Machines." | OPC 40001-1 1.04.2, 11.1 (Note) | | Organizes "can be used to span multiple hierarchies"; more than one hierarchical path to a Node is allowed. | OPC 10000-3 1.05, 7.11, 7.5 | **SDK decisions** (not specified by OPC 30010, which predates Machinery): - A reader is never added to `Machines`: no specification classifies an AutoID device as a machine (40001-1 11.1 leaves that to the domain specifications, AutoID is silent). - A reader becomes a component of a machine only when the application asks for it (`AsComponentOf`). - `WithParent` keeps its parent and adds the `DeviceSet` reference rather than rejecting parents outside `DeviceSet` (see below). - The component `Identification` references the reader's nameplate instead of copying it. - AutoID does not add Machinery conformance units; the Machinery owner advertises them for what its builders created. ### Why `WithParent` adds a reference instead of rejecting DI 4.9 asks for reachability, not for a particular parent, and OPC 10000-3 allows several hierarchical paths to one node. Adding `Organizes` from `DeviceSet` satisfies the "shall" while keeping the parent the application asked for, and it is the same reference type `DeviceSet` already uses for every reader (and the DI node manager for every device). Rejecting such parents with `Bad_ConfigurationError` would break existing callers that hang a reader below a machine or folder. When `DeviceSet` already reaches the parent, no reference is added, so the "only the root instance" rule of 4.9 holds for composed devices. Reachability is decided once when the reader is built, by following the forward hierarchical references of the owner's nodes. ### Why `AsComponentOf` keeps the reader referenced from `DeviceSet` Machinery does not require machines to be in `DeviceSet` (the stock builders put them in `Machines` only), so a reader that is only below `Components` would again be unreachable from `DeviceSet`. The same reachability rule as for `WithParent` applies: if the machine is itself reachable from `DeviceSet` (for example a machine that is also a DI device organized by `DeviceSet`), the reader is reached through it and gets no direct reference, otherwise `DeviceSet` organizes it. ### Shape of `AsComponentOf` It takes the machine's `BaseObjectState`, like `WithParent(NodeState)` and `IMachineryBuildContext.BindMachine(TState, ...)`; with the stock builders that is `IMachineHandle<TState>.State`. It requires the machine's `Components` add-in to exist (`IMachineBuilder.WithComponents`, or a companion-declared one bound with `WithComponents(components, ...)`) instead of creating one, so the Machinery builders stay the only place that creates Machinery building blocks (`MachineryBuildingBlocks` organization, facets). The reader's NodeState parent is the `Components` object, so the DI node manager attaches it with `HasComponent` and the existing registration and rollback code applies unchanged. ## Behaviour change for existing callers - `WithParent(parent)` with a parent that `DeviceSet` does not reach (for example a machine in `Machines`, or an application folder): the reader is now *also* browsable from `DeviceSet` (one extra `Organizes` reference, both directions), and an `AutoIdClient.EnumerateReadersAsync()` (which browses `DeviceSet`) now finds it. Its parent, NodeId and `HasComponent` reference are unchanged. - `WithParent(parent)` with a parent `DeviceSet` reaches (for example another reader): unchanged. - Default placement: unchanged. - `IAutoIdReaderBuilder` gains a member. The interface is implemented only inside the package (instances come from `AutoIdRuntime.Reader`), and the package is new in 2.0. ## Changes - `src/Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server/AutoIdReaderPlacement.cs` (new, internal): `DeviceSet` lookup, the reachability check, the `Organizes` reference and its removal, `Components` resolution and validation, the nameplate check, and the `Identification` add-in. - `src/Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server/AutoIdRuntime.cs`: the builder's nameplate delegate runs once (validated before anything is registered, then copied into the DI builder); `AsComponentOf` resolves `Components` as the parent before the device is created; after registration the add-in is added and the `DeviceSet` reference kept; rollback removes the reference. - `src/Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server/Builders/IAutoIdReaderBuilder.cs`, `AutoIdReaderBuilder.cs`: `AsComponentOf`, mutual exclusion with `WithParent`, XML docs stating the exact behaviour. - `docs/AutoID.md`: new "Placement" subsection under "Hosting readers" (what DI 4.9 and Machinery 11 require, what is an SDK decision, a table per builder call, an example), the composition table rows for readers and `Machines`, the test fixture table. `src/Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server/NugetREADME.md`: a short paragraph. - Tests (below). ## Tests - `AutoIdReaderLifecycleTests` (stand-alone owner): `ReadersCanHangBelowAnExplicitParentAsync` now also asserts that `DeviceSet` does not organize a reader below another reader; `AReaderBelowAParentOutsideTheDeviceSetIsStillOrganizedByItAsync`; `AFailedCreationBelowAnOutsideParentLeavesNoDeviceSetReferenceAsync` (rollback); `AStandaloneReaderCannotBeAComponentOfAMachineAsync` (`Bad_ConfigurationError` naming `AddAutoIdToMachinery`); argument checks for `AsComponentOf(null)` and both call orders of `WithParent`/`AsComponentOf`. - `AutoIdCompositionTests` (Machinery owner, in process): `AReaderBecomesAComponentOfAMachineAndStaysADeviceAsync` (parent is `Components`, `HasComponent`, `DeviceSet` organizes it, `Machines` does not, `Identification` with `HasAddIn` and the component type, `HasProperty` to the reader's own `Manufacturer`/`SerialNumber`/`Model` nodes, no `DeviceManual`, owned subtree); `AComponentNeedsAMachineWithComponentsAndRegistersNothingOtherwiseAsync`; `AComponentNeedsTheMandatoryIdentificationAsync`; `AComponentNeedsAMachineOfTheOwnerAsync`; `AFailedComponentCreationIsRolledBackAsync`. - `AutoIdPlacementEndToEndTests` (new, hosted Machinery + AutoID over a real session): a default reader, a reader below that reader, a reader `AsComponentOf` a machine and a reader `WithParent` the machine. Browsing `DeviceSet` finds the three roots and not the nested reader, the outer reader reaches the nested one; `MachineryClient.DiscoverMachinesAsync` returns only the machine and `Machines` contains no reader; `MachineryClient.EnumerateComponentsAsync` lists only the component reader, `ReadIdentificationAsync` reads `Manufacturer`, `SerialNumber`, `ProductCode` through the add-in, which is `HasAddIn`-referenced and typed `MachineryComponentIdentificationType` and whose `HasProperty` targets are the reader's own nameplate nodes; `AutoIdClient.EnumerateReadersAsync` finds the three roots. - The existing default assertions (`TheReadersShareTheDeviceSetWithThePumpAndStayOutOfTheMachinesFolderAsync`, `TheMachineryAndPumpsClientsStillFindTheirInstancesAsync`, `ComposedReadersLiveBelowTheSharedDeviceSetAsync`) are unchanged. - Fail-without: with the runtime wiring reverted to master (builder surface kept so the tests compile), 10 of the new tests fail: all `AsComponentOf` cases, both `WithParent` cases outside `DeviceSet` and the three session tests that look for the component or the extra `DeviceSet` reference. Removing only the rollback of the `DeviceSet` reference makes both rollback tests fail. `NoReaderBecomesAMachineAsync` and the existing default tests pass with and without the change, as intended. Local results (macOS arm64, SDK 10.0.402, head `238ed9b69` on master `9bfc780e1`; the same three commits are now based on master `ac24123dd` as `c6d70909b`, no AutoID file changed in between): `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` net10.0 318/318 passed; `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` all TFMs and the test project with `CustomTestTarget=net48` build with 0 warnings, 0 errors (net48 tests run on Windows CI; there is no mono host here). `dotnet format whitespace/style/analyzers --verify-no-changes` on the changed files: no new findings beyond the conventions of the surrounding test files. ## Commits 1. `fix(autoid): keep every reader reachable from DeviceSet` 2. `feat(autoid): make a reader a component of a machine` 3. `docs(autoid): document where readers are placed` The branch is based on OPCFoundation/master `ac24123dd` (#4852, the last master commit with a green build). Fork CI was not repeated on this head: earlier fork runs of this branch failed only in test projects outside this PR (the master build was broken by the NUnit 5 migration #4840 and fixed in #4852; master is currently broken again in `Opc.Ua.Core.Tests` by #4849). The upstream checks of this PR test it against the current master. ## Related Issues - Follow-up to #4825 (tracking issue #4824). - #4823 (open) edits prose in other paragraphs of `docs/AutoID.md` (table of contents, the DI-owner paragraph, providers). This PR adds a subsection and changes two rows of the composition table and one row of the test table; no hunk overlaps. The table of contents is deliberately not touched here because #4823 adds the subsection entries for "Hosting readers"; the "Placement" entry can be added there or after both are merged. ## Checklist - [x] I have signed the [CLA](https://opcfoundation.org/license/cla/ContributorLicenseAgreementv1.0.pdf) and read the [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) doc. - [x] I have added tests that prove my fix is effective or that my feature works and increased code coverage. - [x] I have added all necessary documentation. - [x] I have verified that my changes do not introduce (new) build or analyzer warnings. AutoID client: read a device's status without browsing (#4854)
# Description A follow-up to #4825. It adds `AutoIdClient.RefreshDeviceAsync(AutoIdDeviceSnapshot, CancellationToken)`, which reads the variables of a reader device that change at runtime again through the NodeIds a snapshot already carries. It makes one Read and no Browse. ## Why `ReadDeviceAsync` browses the children of the device on every call. OPC 30010 makes most device variables and methods optional, so the browse is how the client finds out what this device publishes. `AutoIdReadOptions.StatusOnly` only narrows the Read. This is the point the Copilot review raised on #4825 ([discussion](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/pull/4825#discussion_r4308032841)). |

Fix sessionless ResultTransfer ownership bypass and other issues. (#4834)
# Description Correct ownership, endpoint validation, policy propagation, subscription delivery, file handling and generated-model behavior across the stack, tools and samples. Add focused regression tests and update the corresponding guides and sample documentation. ### Previously included corrections - Require an active, matching session to generate or access transient ResultTransfer file handles. Cover both sessionless generation and reads against a handle owned by an active session, using live session owners in the Machinery tests. - Keep physical filesystem operations within their configured mount and apply the same confinement checks throughout file operations. - Validate LDS semaphore paths consistently during server registration and registration-store maintenance. ### Individual issues addressed | # | Component | Issue and correction | |---|---|---| | 1 | AI jobs and transfers | Jobs and transfers did not consistently retain their creator's identity and session. Apply ownership checks to descendants, file handles, subscriptions and execution, and recheck deployment permissions before dispatch. | | 2 | Password-management client | Password-bearing calls could use signing-only channels or follow a replacement connection. Capture an encrypted transport generation and keep dispatch bound to it; preserve ordinary non-password edits. | | 3 | GDS and certificate-push clients | Connections omitted hostname verification. Validate the original configured DNS name or IP address before session activation. | | 4 | Certificate push | Private-key uploads could use signing-only calls. Require an encrypted, generation-bound dispatch while preserving certificate-only updates and restoring the caller's identity afterward. | | 5 | MQTT client | The .NET Framework custom-trust callback could discard TLS hostname, certificate-availability and usage errors. Retain those checks while supporting configured issuer trust. | | 6 | DTLS handshake | Certificate trust was not tied to the configured peer address. Match the certificate's DNS or IP identity to the intended endpoint. | | 7 | Replicated address spaces | Serialized nodes lost per-node and descendant permission metadata. Preserve role permissions, user-role permissions and access restrictions, including updates to existing replica nodes. | | 8 | MCP PubSub imports | Imports without groups skipped checks on the effective broker destination. Check the actual endpoint before resolving credentials or activating the connection. | | 9 | Reference-server accounts | A disabled username account could authenticate again with its previous roles. Reject disabled accounts during fresh authentication. | | 10 | Console reference client | The sample disabled hostname checks when connecting to an otherwise trusted peer. Retain the original requested host and validate it before activation. | | 11 | Capture replay and export | Replay and raw export could accept non-capture files or include key material. Require complete PCAP/PCAPNG containers and exclude key sidecars and decryption-secret blocks. | | 12 | PubSub adapter fallback | The fallback client configuration automatically accepted peer certificates. Apply normal trust and hostname validation before activation or reads. | | 13 | Kafka transport | Explicit TLS enablement was checked but did not reach both final Confluent configurations. Use the same effective protocol for validation, producers and consumers. | | 14 | PubSub actions | Configuration rebuilds could widen a connection-local action handler's scope. Preserve its original connection association and reject mismatched dispatch. | | 15 | PubSub readers | Reader-level message-protection settings were accepted but ignored. Apply the effective group and reader settings before accepting and publishing received values. | | 16 | PubSub key groups | Different `SecurityGroupId` values could share one connection-wide key context. Reject mixed groups on a connection and require separate connections for distinct groups. | | 17 | MCP session registrations | Session-name replacement or reuse could retain another registration's credential bindings. Bind access to the registration, caller and authenticated endpoint, and preserve that identity when borrowing sessions. | | 18 | Viewer HTTP host | Requests reached the viewer's OPC UA session without consistent Host, Origin and port checks. Validate the request destination and browser origin before using the session, while retaining supported local MCP clients. | | 19 | Vision file operations | File operations did not consistently apply protected-file checks, and remote handles lacked caller and connection context. Apply the shared checks and use host-side opaque handles bound to caller, target and generation. | | 20 | DTLS record integrity | The integrity-only MAC used a truncated sequence number. Authenticate the full reconstructed sequence number and epoch so records remain distinct across rollover. | | 21 | AMB client sample | Connection setup omitted hostname validation. Preserve the originally requested host and verify the peer identity before activation. | | 22 | Robot sample writes | The R2 `SpeedOverride` callback could target R1 state. Bind each callback to its own robot and apply that robot's write policy. | | 23 | AI result properties | Optional result children inherited remotely writable defaults. Preserve their declaration restrictions and keep server-produced results read-only. | | 24 | WSS peer-trust updates | Existing channels did not consistently respond to peer-trust changes. Revalidate complete chains for forward and reverse WSS channels and close only those that no longer validate. | | 25 | GDS revocation checks | Caller-provided certificates could cause issuer retrieval from embedded URLs. Resolve validation from configured local trust, issuers and CRLs without fetching caller-provided locations. | | 26 | GMS observations | Published correction observations retained writable model defaults. Reject remote writes while preserving publisher-side updates. | | 27 | Production-dataset monitoring | Subscription admission and delivery could use the reporter's context instead of each subscriber's permissions. Evaluate the subscriber at admission and on every delivery, including cancellation and disposal paths. | | 28 | WoT MQTT destinations | Hostless MQTT forms could imply a localhost destination before loopback checks. Reject them before credential lookup or connection attempts and validate the effective endpoint. | | 29 | XRegistry opaque reads | Content-ID reads and notifications did not consistently honor encrypted-read requirements or the currently accepted transport. Recheck the bound endpoint and reject transport downgrades before rebinding, including when protected values are already queued. | | 30 | PubSub capture dissection | Key loading did not consistently check the configured capture-root boundary. Check each actual key path immediately before opening it. | | 31 | PubSub publication queues | Imported WriterGroup queues were not fully checked against publish-topic grants. Check the destination actually used by each group. | | 32 | MCP PubSub mutations | A caller-supplied mode could select subscribe grants for an operation that publishes. Derive the required direction and parent context from the actual mutation. | | 33 | Generated write masks | Model import and generation could widen an explicit `UserWriteMask`. Preserve it through import, copy, merge, inheritance and dependency metadata. | | 34 | Generated method flags | An explicit `UserExecutable=false` could be lost. Preserve its specified state and resulting method behavior through the same model paths. | | 35 | Generated role identifiers | Unresolved role identifiers could cause permission entries to be omitted. Preserve namespace-qualified role IDs and report a diagnostic when a policy cannot be represented. | | 36 | Aggregation-server defaults | The `localhost` default did not reliably constrain listener binding. Use numeric loopback for the default endpoint and command-line fallback. | | 37 | Certificate-validation cache | Cached results could skip current leaf or issuer validity checks. Recheck validity windows on cache hits and keep hostname validation independent of cached chain trust. | | 38 | Software-update folders | Revision names and marker contents containing dot segments could select paths outside the software root. Normalize and check every derived path against that root. | | 39 | USDA arrays | Array elements were not encoded for their string or asset context. Escape them as data and preserve valid composition and round-trip behavior. | | 40 | Adapter hot reload | A changed dataset definition with the same name could keep old fields, subscriptions or cached values active. Compare complete immutable definitions and retire old state before replacement. | | 41 | Adapter index ranges | Subscription publication could ignore `IndexRange` and return the complete value. Preserve the requested projection and its status and timestamps; reject unsupported range providers. | | 42 | PubSub metadata and targets | Metadata from one connection could change another connection's target mapping. Scope metadata to its connection and provenance, and resolve targets using actual typed field IDs rather than field names or unintended positional fallback. | | 43 | Scales product locks | Product locks were not applied across every remote mutation path. Apply them consistently to value writes, filling calculations and related recipe/controller operations while retaining permitted updates. | | 44 | Event permission caching | Cached event decisions could outlive identity, role or node-policy changes. Revalidate the current subscriber, event type and source permissions instead of reusing a stale decision. | | 45 | WoT Modbus destinations | Hostless Modbus forms could imply localhost before loopback checks. Reject them before connecting and validate the effective endpoint. | | 46 | MCP local PKI tools | Peer-trust mutations did not consistently require the caller's `CertificateAdministration` grant. Check the capability before trust and untrust operations. | | 47 | Robot-control HTTP bridge | The bridge lacked consistent Host, Origin and port validation and caller-specific session grants. Apply those checks before borrowing the OPC UA session and retain supported local clients. | | 48 | Subscription transfers | Transferred subscriptions could retain cached notifications after the destination's permissions changed. Require authorization continuity between source and destination identities and roles, invalidate stale retransmission data when continuity fails, and preserve retransmission behavior for compatible transfers. | ### Compatibility notes - Replication uses the versioned NSRP v1 policy envelope. Upgrade peers together and re-encode or reseed legacy topology from the authoritative model; missing permission metadata is not inferred from old records. - Integrity-only DTLS peers must be upgraded together for the full sequence/epoch MAC. AEAD behavior is unchanged. - Distinct PubSub key groups require separate connections. - Custom sessions that cannot capture the actual encrypted transport, and subscription providers that cannot honor a requested range, are rejected rather than silently changing the requested behavior. - Subscription transfers retain retransmission data only when the destination authorization remains compatible with the source snapshot; otherwise the old sequence numbers and cached data are invalidated. ## Related Issues No separate tracking issue is linked. The individual corrections are listed above. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Redundancy: bound the Raft log with the engine's snapshots (#4836)
# Description **Draft: builds on #4835 and waits for a RaftCs release** containing marcschier/raft-cs#9, marcschier/raft-cs#10 and marcschier/raft-cs#11, anticipated as 1.1.4. It contains the commit of #4835; review only the second commit. `RaftSharedKeyValueStore` can capture and restore its state (#4794), but `IRaftConsensus` carries no log indices, so the store cannot bound the RaftCs log, which grows without limit. This change uses the engine's snapshots: - `IRaftSnapshotConsensus` (`CommittedItems` with log indices and snapshots, `CompactAsync`) and `RaftCommittedItem`. `DefaultRaftConsensus` implements it over `RaftNode.CommittedItems`, `CreateSnapshotAsync` and `CompactAsync`. - `RaftSharedKeyValueStore` gains a constructor overload with a compaction interval and an optional logger (the existing constructors are unchanged) and `AppliedIndex`. Over an `IRaftSnapshotConsensus` it applies the indexed stream. A snapshot on that stream (a lagging replica installing the leader's snapshot, or the first item after a restart) replaces the state and publishes the differences to watchers. Every compaction interval it snapshots its state into the engine, which discards the log behind it. A compaction that fails is logged and retried at the next interval. - The engine snapshot is a format marker followed by the snapshot encoding of #4794, so it carries the command position: the commands after it keep the positions they have on every replica, and `CreateSnapshotAsync`/`RestoreSnapshotAsync` keep working over it. No compaction runs while a store restored with `FromFirstCommand` still skips the replayed commands its snapshot holds. - A snapshot in another format stops the applier. Pending and later proposals and watches then fail with its error instead of waiting. - `AppliedIndex` is published once the state holds an item, before watchers and the proposer learn of it. - Registration: `RedundancyConsistencyOptions.RaftCompactionInterval` (server), and overloads of `AddRaftClientSharedStore` and `AddRedundantClientSharedStore` that take the interval (client). Zero, the default, never compacts. The store's logger comes from the registered `ITelemetryContext`, else `ILoggerFactory`. - `HighAvailability.md` describes the compaction and warns that a replica must not be rolled back to a release without engine snapshots once the cluster compacted its log. No public member is removed or changed. ## Related Issues - #4794 (store snapshots), #4835 (RaftCs 1.1.4) - marcschier/raft-cs#9, marcschier/raft-cs#10, marcschier/raft-cs#11 ## Checklist - [x] I have signed the [CLA](https://opcfoundation.org/license/cla/ContributorLicenseAgreementv1.0.pdf) and read the [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) doc. - [x] I have added tests that prove my fix is effective or that my feature works and increased code coverage. Update NuGet dependencies and migrate tests to NUnit 5 (#4840)
# Description Update 55 NuGet dependencies to the latest stable releases available on 2026-10-19, preserving documented compatibility pins and framework-specific version bands. Existing OpenUSD prereleases remain unchanged because no newer releases are available. Migrate existing tests to NUnit 5: await asynchronous assertions, propagate async through helpers, handle nullable predicates, and replace obsolete `Order` attributes with sequencing dependencies. Sequencing dependencies use `AllowFailure = true`; filtering a dependent test also runs prerequisites. Adjust fixture-level parallelism where NUnit dependency scheduling requires it. Keep Roslyn API/runtime pins intact; select newer Immutable/Metadata runtime packages only for test and profiling hosts requiring them. Update the approved SDK pin to 10.0.402 across local, CI, and container builds. Document NUnit 5 conventions. |

Generic runtime continuation, batch lifecycle and readiness (#4759)
# Description This pull request extracts and integrates generic server runtime and continuation-management capabilities for OPC UA NodeManagers. - **NodeManager lifecycle and routing:** add batch registration and reload, staged publication and readiness notifications, captured routing snapshots and reservations, and safe retirement. Wire the lifecycle through host interfaces, async/sync adapters, `MasterNodeManager`, and `StandardServer` startup and shutdown. - **Browse and History continuations:** retain continuation ownership and manager dependencies across requests and reloads; add atomic claims, session caching, and cleanup when requests fail or generations retire. Add historian resume state, tokens, dependency capabilities, and shared continuation-store support. - **MonitoredItem lifecycle:** support detaching and reattaching items across node-manager generations, including event subscriptions shared across root notifiers and correct defaults for detached-item modification. - **Runtime NodeSet references:** track reference additions and deletions through supported API paths and preserve the tracked references during reload. - **Published views and materialization:** add immutable `TypeTable` and `EncodeableFactory` snapshots with publication-owner lifetime management, and provide a live node-materialization query for the existing WoT projection-view consumer. - **CI trace support and documentation:** add scripts and tests for staging NUnit internal traces, and document NodeManager lifecycle, session continuation ownership, and historical-access behavior. ## Related Issues - Extracts the generic runtime portion of #4511. - #4757 depends on this pull request; this pull request does not depend on #4757. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. You can complete these step by step after opening the PR._ - [ ] I have signed the [CLA](https://opcfoundation.org/license/cla/ContributorLicenseAgreementv1.0.pdf) and read the [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) doc. - [ ] I have added tests that prove my fix is effective or that my feature works and increased code coverage. - [x] I have added all necessary documentation. - [ ] I have verified that my changes do not introduce (new) build or analyzer warnings. - [ ] I ran **all** tests locally using the **UA.slnx** solution against at least .net **framework** and .net **10**, and all passed. - [ ] I fixed **all** failing and flaky tests in the CI pipelines and **all** CodeQL warnings. - [ ] I have addressed **all** PR feedback received. --------- Co-authored-by: perf <perf@local> Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

AutoID: the OPC UA for AutoID Devices companion SDK (OPC 30010) (#4825)
# Description This completes the AutoID contribution proposed in #4824: the model package for [OPC 30010 OPC UA for AutoID Devices](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/AutoID/v101/docs/) (1.01) plus the server, the client, an MCP profile and a sample pair, in one PR. It follows the newest companion pattern (GMS #4765, MachineTool, CranesHoists, MachineVision). ## Commits 1. `fix(sourcegen)`: a structure property whose DataType a subtype refines is redeclared with its own field (the NodeSet needs it; unchanged from the first slice). 2. `feat(autoid)` model package `Opc.Ua.AutoID` (unchanged from the first slice). Adds only `AutoIdReaderKind`. 3. `feat(autoid)` server package `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server`. 4. `feat(autoid)` client package `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Client`. 5. `feat(autoid)` MCP profile `Opc.Ua.Mcp.AutoID`. 6. `feat(autoid)` samples `samples/AutoID`. 7. `build(autoid)` solution, package list and package validation tests. 8. `fix(autoid)` x3, `docs(autoid)` and `test(autoid)`: review fixes, net48 compatibility, documentation, the native AOT test. 9. `fix(autoid)` x3 and `feat(autoid-client)`: `GetLocation` location types, the `Client` of access events, the default scan cycle of the simulated readers, and NodeIds and methods in the device snapshot (details below). 10. `feat(autoid)`, `test(autoid)`, `docs(autoid)` (`afdd7858b`, `22bc3b26e`, `ed25fe4ae`, on top of the master merge `1c7948f65`): AutoID composes into an existing Device Integration owner like Pumps and Scales (review feedback; see "Composition with other DI-based companions"). 11. `1458af9e9` (marcschier): the `AutoIdReadOptions` remarks state that `StatusOnly` limits the values read and that each call still browses (Copilot review). 12. `fix(autoid)` `3ef2f1507`: `GetDeviceLocation` answers with the same status codes as `GetLocation`; `feat(autoid-mcp)` `f6405152f`: `autoid_read_device` shows the new snapshot NodeIds and methods (details below). ## Server: `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` - Reader devices (RFID, OCR, optical, optical verifier, RTLS) on the DI device model, created by a fluent builder (`AutoIdRuntime.Reader(name, provider)`) and hosted with `AddAutoId` / `ConfigureAutoId` on `IServiceCollection`. - Hardware is behind provider interfaces: `IAutoIdReaderProvider`, `IAutoIdScanProvider` (Scan), `IAutoIdAsyncScanProvider` (ScanStart/ScanStop), `IAutoIdRfidProvider` (ReadTag, WriteTag, WriteTagID, KillTag, LockTag, SetTagPassword, each opt-in by flag), `IAutoIdRtlsProvider`. Providers push scans, presence, log entries and access events through `IAutoIdReaderSink`. In-memory providers (an EPC Gen2 tag model with banks, passwords, locks and kill) are included for tests and samples. - Optional children (methods, `LastScanData`, `DeviceLocation`, `AntennaNames`, location methods) exist only when the provider supports them. Facet profiles and conformance units are advertised only for what is implemented (`IConformanceContributor`); the Full facet is withheld. - `GetLocation` (OPC 30010 6.6.3.2) returns the location in the requested `LocationType`. An unsupported type is `Bad_InvalidArgument`, an unknown object `Bad_NotFound`, and a supported type the object's location is not available in `Bad_InvalidState` (6.6.3.2: "not available or not allowed e.g. due to special configuration"); a provider result of another type never reaches the client. `InMemoryRtlsProvider` takes an optional location converter, for example from the configured local coordinate system (9.3.4) into WGS84. - `GetDeviceLocation` (6.1.3.7) uses the same mapping: an undefined location type is `Bad_InvalidArgument`, a device location that is not available in the requested type `Bad_InvalidState` (it answered `Bad_NotSupported` before). 6.1.3.7 lists only "Standard OPC UA status codes defined for the Call Service in OPC 10000-4"; there `Bad_NotSupported` means "The Method is not supported for the Object instance", which is wrong for a published method, and OPC 10000-4 5.12.2.4 allows reusing an existing status code with the same canonical meaning, so the method follows 6.6.3.2. - Access events (7.10, 7.11): `Client` is "the name of the client application which was the originator of the command", so it is the application name of the session's client description (else its application URI), not the user identity. The results of a `ScanStart` scan name the client that started it; scans the device reports on its own name the device. - The simulated readers default to one scan cycle per second (`CycleInterval`, configurable per provider; the length of a cycle is device specific in OPC 30010), so an unbounded `ScanStart` raises at most one scan event per second. - Behaviour: one scan at a time with a generation counter; ScanStart/ScanStop serialised; a scan started by a session stops when that session closes; the maximum scan duration, tag read length and result count are limited by `AutoIdServerOptions`; device status changes and events are raised outside locks; registration is rolled back on failure; readers, providers and the runtime are disposed in order and in-flight operations are drained. ## Composition with other DI-based companions A server has one Device Integration owner, and AutoID now uses the existing harmonized composition instead of requiring its own node manager: - `AutoIdMachineryModelProvider` adds the AutoID model to the Machinery owner's model-provider pipeline (dependency-ordered, `Order` 200) and keeps the DI nodes the owner loaded, so DI and `DeviceSet` exist once. - `AddAutoIdToMachinery` (after `AddMachinery`) registers it; `ConfigureAutoIdFor<TNodeManager>` creates readers on any `DiNodeManager` owner, successive delegates share one `AutoIdRuntime`; `owner.CreateAutoIdRuntime()` is the path without DI hosting. The owner disposes the runtime on shutdown. - Readers are registered in the owner below its `DeviceSet`, NodeIds in the owner's instance namespace (`AutoIdRuntime.InstanceNamespaceIndex`), not in the `Machines` folder; the AutoID conformance units and facets are published by the owner next to the DI and Machinery ones. - `AddAutoId` remains for the "AutoID is the only DI-based companion" case and is built from the same provider. Next to another DI owner it is still rejected; the message names the composition API. (Bypassing that check gives two `DeviceSet` copies; the server routes `DeviceSet` to the first owner and readers in the second are not browsable, checked locally.) - `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` now references `Opc.Ua.Machinery.Server` (a stable package), as Vision does; a stand-alone server still loads only DI and AutoID. ## Client: `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Client` Reader discovery (a failed browse propagates), typed calls for every published method, a device snapshot with documented `AutoIdReadOptions`, and an async event stream (`ObserveScan/Access/Presence/LogEntries`) on `IStreamingSubscription`. Cancellation is honoured throughout. `AddAutoIdClient` registers it for DI. Because most children of a device are optional (6.1, 6.5.3, 6.6.3), the snapshot also carries the NodeIds of `DeviceStatus`, `LastScanData`, `LastScanTimestamp` and `DeviceLocation` and the browse names of the published methods (`Methods`, `HasMethod`), taken from the same browse whatever the read options, so a client can monitor the device and knows what it may call without browsing again. ## MCP profile: `Opc.Ua.Mcp.AutoID` `McpToolProfile.AutoId` with nine tools: list readers, read device, scan, scan start/stop, observe scan events, read tag, get supported location types, get location. `autoid_read_device` also returns `deviceStatusId`, `lastScanDataId`, `lastScanTimestampId` and `deviceLocationId` (NodeId strings, null when the device does not publish the variable) and `methods` (the browse names of the published methods), built explicitly without reflection. Registered in the host builder, the profile switches of the other profiles, `Test-McpGrade.ps1`, `McpREADME.md` and `.mcp/server.json`. ## Samples `samples/AutoID/AutoIdServer` (a dock-door reader with a simulated pallet) and `AutoIdClient` with a README and `Test-AutoIdSamplePair.ps1`. The default port is not a common one; tests use port 0. ## Other changes - `Opc.Ua.Di.Server` gets `InternalsVisibleTo` for `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` (`RegisterRootNotifierAsync`). - `UA.slnx`, `.azurepipelines/expected-packages.txt`, `PackageVersionPolicyTests`, `NuGetPackageSetValidationTests`. - Docs: `docs/AutoID.md`, `docs/McpServer.md`, `docs/Profiles.md`, `docs/Samples.md`, `docs/DeveloperGuide.md`, `docs/README.md`, `docs/WhatsNewIn2.0.md`, `README.md`, NugetREADMEs. The "model package only" statements are removed. - All packages follow the root version (no preview override). ## Specification notes and questions for the maintainers - The model is 1.01, published 2020-06-18 (the NodeSet header). OPC 30010 6.1.3.16 prescribes the `AutoIdModelVersion` string `"1.00"`, which is what the NodeSet carries and what the server publishes. - **Question:** the NodeSet's optical verifier `Scan` method returns `WGS84Coordinate`, which looks like a model error. It is not published, and providers that implement `IAutoIdScanProvider` for a verifier are rejected. Is that the behaviour you want? - The stack answers a call to an unpublished optional method with `BadNotImplemented`. ## Design choices reviewers may want changed - `Opc.Ua.Di.Server` gets `InternalsVisibleTo` for `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server`, so the server can call `RegisterRootNotifierAsync`. - `AutoIdReaderKind` (and `AutoIdReaderKinds.TypeIdOf`) lives in the model package `Opc.Ua.AutoID`, not in the server package, so the client and the MCP tools share it. - The MCP profile is read-only/safe: no tools that write, kill or lock tags. ## Tests `tests/Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` has 306 tests (116 of the model slice, 190 new): reader lifecycle, scan semantics, tag access handlers, limits, conformance, in-memory providers, hosting, and over-the-wire client/server tests with result codes, events, concurrency and dispose. `tests/Opc.Ua.Tools.Tests` has 13 AutoID MCP tests plus the updated profile-count tests. New behaviour tests fail without the code (for example a provider's own cancellation, a synchronous scan while a scan stop is in progress; for the last round: `GetLocation` of a supported type the object is not located in answered `Bad_NotFound`, access events named the user "Anonymous" and attributed `ScanStart` results to the device, and an unbounded `ScanStart` on a default simulated reader reported 20 times in 400 ms). Composition: `AutoIdCompositionTests` (stock Machinery owner, providers out of order, DI loaded once, instance ownership, rollback, cancellation, runtime disposal, an application-owned DI owner, a second DI owner rejected) and `AutoIdMachineryCompositionEndToEndTests` (Machinery + Pumps + AutoID in one hosted server, read back by the AutoID, Machinery and Pumps clients, including a scan and the published profiles and conformance units). Mutating the change (no lifetime registration, the DI instance namespace for browse names, the old ownership message) fails three of them. The sample pair script passes. `tests/Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests.Mcp` has an AutoID profile test (`AutoIdMcpAotTests`); the project was published with Native AOT on osx-arm64 and all 64 tests passed. Publishing it also found two `JsonArray.Add<T>` uses in the MCP tools (IL2026/IL3050), now fixed. ## Verification (local, macOS arm64, SDK pinned in `global.json`) The branch contains the master merges `fc556be7e`, `1c7948f65` and `af7feb886`; the three composition commits sit between the last two (the latest merge touches no AutoID, DI or Machinery file). `1458af9e9` (marcschier) and the two commits of the last round follow `af7feb886`. - **Last round (`3ef2f1507`, `f6405152f`).** Builds with `-m:2 -nodeReuse:false -p:UseSharedCompilation=false`: `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` on all target frameworks and with `-p:CustomTestTarget=net48`, `Opc.Ua.Mcp.AutoID` on net8.0/net9.0/net10.0, `Opc.Ua.Tools.Tests` on net10.0: 0 warnings, 0 errors. `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` 306/306 on net10.0; `Opc.Ua.Tools.Tests` AutoID tests 60/60, and the profile, catalogue, composition and package tests that reference AutoID (2241) pass. The changed tests fail without the code: `GetDeviceLocation` answered `Bad_NotSupported` for both cases, and `autoid_read_device` had no `deviceStatusId`. `tests/Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests.Mcp` published with Native AOT on osx-arm64 (no IL2026/IL3050 warning): 64/64 passed. `dotnet format` whitespace, style and analyzers `--verify-no-changes` on the changed files: no finding on a changed line (line endings aside, which the LF checkout on macOS reports for every file). - **Build (composition round).** `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` on all target frameworks, `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` on net10.0 and with `-p:CustomTestTarget=net48`, and the AutoID server sample: 0 warnings, 0 errors. MCP tools and JSON unchanged, so the native AOT test was not republished. - **Build (earlier rounds).** The AutoID packages and `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` on net10.0 and, with `-p:CustomTestTarget=net48`, on net48/net8.0/net9.0/net10.0; `Opc.Ua.Tools.Tests` and `Opc.Ua.SourceGeneration.Core.Tests` on net10.0 (`-m:2 -nodeReuse:false -p:UseSharedCompilation=false`): 0 warnings, 0 errors. - **Tests.** `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Tests` 306/306 on net10.0 (composition round; earlier round 288/288); `Opc.Ua.Tools.Tests` (AutoID, host builder, profile and package tests) 2438/2438 on net10.0; `Opc.Ua.SourceGeneration.Core.Tests` 4358 passed, 8 skipped, after the master merge touched `NodeStateGenerator.cs`. net48 was built, not run (no Mono on macOS); the fork CI runs it. The MCP tools and their JSON are unchanged in the last round, so the native AOT test was not republished. - **Coverage.** Composition round: the local coverlet collector recorded zero hits for every module in this environment (also for unchanged code), so no new local number; the new paths are exercised by the 18 composition tests listed above and the fork CI uploads coverage. Earlier round: cobertura from the AutoID tests: `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Server` 92.0 % lines / 86.8 % branches, `Opc.Ua.AutoID.Client` 89.9 % / 80 %; 110 of the 112 coverable changed lines of the last round are covered (the two missed lines skip a browse result without NodeId or name). The generated code of the model package is excluded as in the other model packages. - **Format.** `dotnet format` whitespace, style and analyzers (`--severity info`) `--verify-no-changes` on the changed files: clean. Fork CI (full matrix including macOS): [run 39162077465](https://github.com/biancode/UA-.NETStandard/actions/runs/39162077465) on `f6405152f`: green. (Previous round: run 39130154771 on `ed25fe4ae`, 90/90 jobs green; the upstream checks on the merge `af7feb886` green, 108 passed, 5 skipped.) CodeQL: [run 39162079826](https://github.com/biancode/UA-.NETStandard/actions/runs/39162079826) on `f6405152f`: green, no alert in a file this PR touches. (Previous round: run 39130156598 on `ed25fe4ae`, green.) ## Related Issues - Part of #4824 (tracking issue: AutoID companion SDK). - [x] I ran **all** tests locally using the **UA.slnx** solution against at least .net **framework** and .net **10**, and all passed. Source generator: a NodeSet2 Variable without a Value has a null Value (#4798)
# Description A Variable or VariableType in a NodeSet2 that has no Value element has a null Value (OPC 10000-6 F.5); the runtime NodeSet2 importer loads it that way. The source generator initialized such a node with the default value of its DataType instead ((int)0, (double)0, ...), so a server built from the generated code reported values the model never declared. The NodeSet2 importer now records that the node declares no Value (NodeSetValueIsNull), the flag follows the node into the merged instance hierarchy, and the node state generator emits Variant.Null for it when no value was merged in from elsewhere. ModelDesign inputs, where a missing DefaultValue implies the DataType default, are unchanged. The tests generate a DI-style NodeSet2 together with the DI NodeSet2 and check the generated values of a type's InstanceDeclaration, of an instance's children with and without a Value, and of a VariableType. ## Related Issues None. - [x] I ran **all** tests locally using the **UA.slnx** solution against at least .net **framework** and .net **10**, and all passed. - [x] I fixed **all** failing and flaky tests in the CI pipelines and **all** CodeQL warnings. - [x] I have addressed **all** PR feedback received. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Marc Schier <marcschier@users.noreply.github.com> |

Client: let ManagedSession validate a rediscovered endpoint (#4791)
# Description When a reconnect is rejected with a status that requires the endpoint to be refreshed, ManagedSession reads the endpoint again from the server's discovery endpoint and ConfiguredEndpoint.Update replaces the endpoint in use with whatever discovery returned. The application had no say: a discovery answer that, for example, drops the security mode or presents a different server certificate was taken over as it was. ManagedSession.ValidateRediscoveredEndpoint (a RediscoveredEndpointValidator) receives the endpoint in use and the rediscovered one before the session is recreated against it. A Bad result keeps the endpoint in use and fails the reconnect attempt with that result, so the reconnect policy decides what happens next. Without a validator the behaviour is unchanged. ## Related Issues None.

WoT: Types-side TD/TM-NodeSet conversion with consolidated corpus and minimal consumer compat (#4758)
# Description Adds the pure Types-side WoT Thing Description / Thing Model to NodeSet conversion: resolution, context, declarations, types, values, localization, URI/format handling, bounded hashing, plus supporting native XML codec, NodeSet alias/value helpers, RelativePathFormatter and a JsonElement equality polyfill. - Carrier-witness fix: a missing native event is accepted only when the owning preserved type declares it through a `GeneratesEvent` reference (directly or via its type/supertype chain) AND a bounded, validated selected EventType carrier identity equals the normalized authored native target. Native-present events get a full compare; an ambiguous native key and a missing map stay strict; a readable document is never archive authority. - Support-only dependencies: additive per-instance, non-serialized `WotDocument.IsSupportOnly(kind, name)` (ArgumentNullException guard). The resolver marks support-only after closure; explicit selection wins; the View builder excludes only true support-only members, so unit/actsOn dependencies stay in the JSON. Nested controls cover inner value-only projection under an outer value-only selection (unit kept, support-only) versus an outer explicit SelectAll (explicit, not support-only). - Documentation/XML comments and member-order only in commit 5c368d3a; no logic change. - Timeout repair on current head |

Server: surface failures to restore durable subscriptions (#4795)
# Description SubscriptionManager.RestoreSubscriptionsAsync logged and swallowed every restore failure: a subscription store that threw, a store that reported an unsuccessful restore, and a stored subscription that could not be recreated. The server then started without those subscriptions, the store was told the restore had completed (so it cleaned up what it held), and nothing but a log line showed that subscriptions had been lost. A failed restore now fails the restore, and with it the startup: - a store that throws fails with BadInternalError and the store's exception as the inner exception; - a store that reports Success = false fails with BadInternalError; - stored subscriptions that cannot be recreated are collected and reported as an AggregateException, before the store is told that the restore completed, so the store keeps what it holds. SubscriptionManager.ContinueOnRestoreFailure (default false) restores the previous behaviour for applications that prefer to start without the subscriptions. Cancellation is no longer swallowed unless that option is set. The Quickstarts durable subscription store reported Success = false when it had nothing stored; it now reports a successful restore of no subscriptions, and keeps reporting a failure when its file cannot be read. ## Related Issues None.

Add recycling operator console and sample container images (#4810)
# Description Add a local browser-based operator console for the synthetic recycling line, using direct, encrypted OPC UA connections and the existing typed coordination interface. - Extract a sample-local, non-packable `Recycling.Client` library shared by the server and console. Preserve the model XML bytes, namespace/type identifiers, resource identity, wire format and journal schema; the server retains its .NET 8/9/10 targets. - Add a .NET 10 ASP.NET Core workstation host with bounded SSE state/trend delivery, native companion inspection, paged material/genealogy reads, and role-limited coordinator commands. Exact command envelopes are retained for explicit retries; uncertain outcomes are not automatically reissued. - Add the operator interface using local HTML/SVG, CSS and JavaScript modules: ten process groups, substep inspection, faults/constraints, persistent quality holds, trends, material tracing and simulator administration. Show raw quality/provenance and handle stale data, run changes, browser expiry and large identifiers explicitly. No browser-generated plant telemetry or frontend framework/npm build is introduced. - Keep application/user credentials in external certificate stores. Use strict X.509 trust, signed/encrypted UA sessions, local browser bootstrap sessions, same-origin/CSRF checks, and a conservative configured control ceiling. This is a local synthetic sample, not a physical emergency-stop or shared remote-user system. - Register `recyclingserver` and `recyclingclient` in the existing Images CI matrix, using source/prebuilt Dockerfile stages and the existing portable-IL/multiarchitecture packaging flow. Add an optional loopback-published Compose console service. No new schedules or NuGet publication entries are added. - Add managed, real-UA, Chromium, NativeAOT and image-contract qualification, with Microsoft.Playwright as a test-only centrally managed dependency, and update usage/deployment documentation. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Redundancy: snapshot and restore for RaftSharedKeyValueStore (#4794)
# Description RaftSharedKeyValueStore applies every committed command but offers no way to capture its state. An application that wants to bound the Raft log cannot snapshot the store before compacting its consensus log, and after a restart it cannot restore the state without replaying the whole log. Add CreateSnapshotAsync, which commits a barrier through the consensus and encodes the state in a versioned format, and RestoreSnapshot, which replaces the state before the store starts applying the log. A malformed snapshot raises FormatException; restoring after start raises InvalidOperationException. Tests: RaftSharedKeyValueStoreSnapshotTests (round trip, log applied after restore, restore after start rejected, corrupt snapshot rejected). ## Related Issues None. - [x] I ran **all** tests locally using the **UA.slnx** solution against at least .net **framework** and .net **10**, and all passed. - [x] I fixed **all** failing and flaky tests in the CI pipelines and **all** CodeQL warnings. - [ ] I have addressed **all** PR feedback received. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Marc Schier <marcschier@users.noreply.github.com> |

Fix classic browse-path subscription restoration (#4814)
# Description Persisted classic subscriptions retain their server/client handles but previously lost relative-path resolution metadata. Transfer could succeed, yet a later `ApplyChangesAsync` attempted to resolve an already-created item and failed. The SDK now owns this restoration lifecycle without exposing a public resolution-state setter. - Preserve the originally monitored target in internal snapshot state and restore both `ResolvedNodeId` and `Status.NodeId`. Transfer/reactivation use handles without re-browsing; fresh creation resolves paths again. - Version classic subscription/configuration files and read existing unversioned 2.0 files using frozen legacy wire layouts. Legacy missing targets remain unknown rather than being guessed. - Exclude existing items from creation-time resolution, reserve creation before asynchronous translation, and reject stale translation results. Failed deletion retains identity and pending retry state. - Support forward-only snapshot input using position tracking and bounded, per-ExtensionObject buffering in the binary decoder, including short reads. No whole-file buffering or reflection-based serialization is introduced. - Add unit/integration regressions and document the supported lifecycle and migration implications. **Compatibility:** Newly written files require the updated SDK. Existing 2.0 files remain readable. Assigning a different `StartNodeId` or `RelativePath` to a created/in-flight item now immediately throws `BadInvalidState`; unchanged assignments remain allowed. No V2 subscription-engine changes or 1.5 XML import are included. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Machinery: add bounded inspection and result transfers (#4804)
# Description - Add opt-in bounded browsing and strict reads with original source, status, timestamp, and structured-value evidence. Preserve the existing tolerant constructors and convenience projections, and wire options through session extensions, factories, and hosting registration. - Add selected-result streaming downloads with byte/request limits and independent cleanup, using `TemporaryFileTransferClient.CopyToAsync` from the client/server predecessor. Fix recycling scenario defaults and MCP interoperability (#4808)
# Description Fix five failures reproduced while exercising the recycling sample through a locally built OPC UA MCP server: - Support Certificate authentication through named, host-approved X.509 identity selectors and the existing certificate/identity providers. Tool arguments cannot supply private keys or arbitrary certificate-store paths. - Register custom enumeration dependencies from the validated, bounded type snapshot before loading requested structure roots. - Preserve structured fields and opaque encoded bodies in generic read/call results using the selected session's UA codecs. - Add bounded, explicitly typed UA JSON method arguments while retaining the existing string argument behavior and C# overloads. - Preserve omitted defaults in sparse recycling scenario JSON; explicit invalid values and unknown members still fail validation. All six shipped scenario files are covered by regressions. Update the MCP and recycling documentation. This PR contains one fix commit on a feature branch in **OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard**, based directly on upstream `master` at `95850b7e5`. No local registration, certificates, scenario journals or live-test artifacts are included. ### Validation **Final commit `d199feba0`: 216 affected MCP tests and 16 recycling CLI/scenario tests passed on .NET 10**, with no failures, fixture setup/teardown errors or build/analyzer warnings. The repository's TRX verdict helper accepted both reports. **Draft: the full-solution gate is not green.** The .NET 10 solution run encountered an `Opc.Ua.OneFuzz.Validator.Tests` fixture-publication failure outside the files changed by this PR: `MSB3030`, missing `Opc.Ua.OneFuzz.TestDependency.runtimeconfig.json`. It affected 210 tests; the run was stopped rather than expanding this PR into unrelated OneFuzz work. The full .NET Framework 4.8 solution suite was not run. Before the final rebase, the complete managed recycling suite passed **117**, and the CLI/scenario tests passed **16 each on .NET 8 and .NET 9**, with no failures or fixture teardown errors. The five explicit NativeAOT smoke cases were not selected. Actual live qualification used one coordinator and all ten independent process servers with strict certificate trust. Healthy, combined-fault and zero-utility runs each produced 24 complete packages with exact component conservation. Also exercised native companion discovery, subscriptions, authorization, pause/step/enable/disable, durable request replay, quality holds, reset and coordinator crash recovery. NativeAOT executables, container deployment and parity against a complete external producer contract were not qualified. <details> <summary>Exact validation commands and results</summary> Commands ran from the repository root with an isolated .NET SDK 10.0.401. `$root` denotes the private validation-artifact directory; no machine-specific path or key material is included here. AMB: add bounded strict reads and configurable sample hosting (#4803)
# Description Extract the AMB layer from #4462 onto the client/server predecessor #4802, then address the four review findings in `6428686ae45724510bd6bd00619f4992f3d36e46`. The initial extraction (`95b0caa1ac30d1fdacaf7a780f19c5f97e6fd02d`) contained exactly 19 paths: 12 AMB client files, four AMB test files, two sample entry points and `docs/AMB.md`. Its code/tests matched the frozen source `5b03e9afa492cdb36049ee52ae844f630f89d8db...390c4a7a51b71da40caec2d22ef74518bbe670ce`; only the two agreed UaLens-only documentation passages were omitted. The review follow-up intentionally changes that extracted implementation and adds the related factory/registration tests and package documentation. No UaLens, Machinery, Pumps, Positioning, native-rendering, build or CI changes are introduced by this layer. The AMB client provides opt-in bounded traversal, strict response/type validation and original `AssetReadValue` evidence while preserving tolerant defaults. The samples expose validated host, port, PKI root, certificate auto-accept and bounded-runtime options, with unchanged standalone defaults. The review corrections are: - Accept header-validated empty BrowseNext release responses required by Part 4 §5.9.3.2, as well as the stack's single-result response. Invalid cleanup results still preserve the original failure. - Keep event observation tolerant of denied/limited maintenance-class discovery without caching incomplete classes. Subsequent strict reads retry discovery and still report errors. - Accept typed-null ExtensionObjects only in the nullable structure-field checks, preserving original evidence without weakening scalar validation. - Pass optional immutable limits through `AddAssetManagementClient`, the registered factory/delegate and directly constructed factories. Preserve existing overloads and tolerant behavior when options are omitted; reject invalid limits before opening a session. ### Review regression evidence | Requirement | Evidence | | --- | --- | | Accept empty cleanup responses without masking cancellation or limits | `OneBeyondReferenceLimitReleasesAcquiredContinuationAsync` and `CancellationWhileAwaitingNextReleasesTheSubmittedContinuationAsync`, each with empty and single-result responses; malformed responses remain covered | | Preserve observation fallback and do not cache incomplete classes | `ObservationFallsBackWithoutCachingIncompleteClassesAsync`: both observation APIs, denied browsing and exhausted budget, correct filter/event evidence, and a subsequent strict rediscovery | | Preserve typed-null structure evidence without weakening scalar checks | `ContextAndEntryReadsKeepSourceAndNullStructureEvidenceAsync`, `MaintenanceTypedNullStructuresKeepOriginalEvidenceAsync`, `ScalarHealthRejectsTypedNullStructuresAsync`, plus wrong-non-null-structure rejection tests | | Apply configured hosted limits while retaining tolerant defaults | `HostedClientOptionsReachClientsAsync`: registered factory, registered delegate and direct factory, singleton and builder registration, actual one-reference limit and read evidence; `InvalidHostedLimitsAreRejectedBeforeOpeningASession` | ### Validation All commands below ran in this layer's worktree with the existing pinned .NET SDK 10.0.401. No SDK installation, global.json change, registry/path-policy change, test suppression or analyzer suppression was made. The short owned NUnit directory `D:\a61r` and its generated certificates/state were removed afterward. **Latest full AMB suite: Passed: 285, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 on each framework.** Both builds emitted no compiler/analyzer diagnostics. TRX files confirm the regression cases executed on both TFMs. ```powershell & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' test 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests.csproj' --no-restore --configuration Release --framework net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --nologo --verbosity minimal --logger 'trx;LogFileName=amb-feedback-net10.trx' --results-directory 'C:\Users\mschier\.copilot\session-state\61d7ed73-c89e-406a-a049-1d8ba9681308\files\TestResults\feedback-net10' -- 'NUnit.WorkDirectory=D:\a61r' & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' test 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests.csproj' --configuration Release --framework net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 --nologo --verbosity minimal --logger 'trx;LogFileName=amb-feedback-net48.trx' --results-directory 'C:\Users\mschier\.copilot\session-state\61d7ed73-c89e-406a-a049-1d8ba9681308\files\TestResults\feedback-net48' -- 'NUnit.WorkDirectory=D:\a61r' ``` **Focused regression run: Passed: 127, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0.** Before the production fixes, the focused repro executed 112 cases with 16 failures reproducing all four reported defects. Additional registration/validation cases were included in the final run. ```powershell & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' test 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests.csproj' --no-restore --configuration Release --framework net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --nologo --verbosity minimal --filter 'FullyQualifiedName~AmbBoundedClientTests|FullyQualifiedName~AmbClientTests|FullyQualifiedName~HostedClientOptionsReachClientsAsync' --logger 'trx;LogFileName=amb-feedback-focused.trx' --results-directory 'C:\Users\mschier\.copilot\session-state\61d7ed73-c89e-406a-a049-1d8ba9681308\files\TestResults\feedback-focused' -- 'NUnit.WorkDirectory=D:\a61r' ``` **Whitespace and newly introduced style findings: passed.** `git diff --check` and the following commands exited 0: ```powershell & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' format whitespace --folder --verify-no-changes --verbosity quiet --include 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Bounds.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Health.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Structure.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Values.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClientFactory.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\Hosting\OpcUaAmbClientBuilderExtensions.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.Traversal.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.Values.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientServerE2eTests.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientTests.cs' $env:CustomTestTarget = 'net10.0' $env:Configuration = 'Release' & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' format style 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests.csproj' --no-restore --verify-no-changes --severity info --diagnostics IDE0039 --verbosity quiet --include 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientServerE2eTests.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientTests.cs' ``` The broader formatter check was **not clean**. It reported pre-existing informational suggestions and design-time `NUnit1003` diagnostics for generated browse-name constants, including pre-existing test cases. Those diagnostics do not occur in the actual builds, which compile and execute those cases successfully. Two new local-function suggestions were corrected and rechecked above; no unrelated baseline cleanup or suppression was included. ```powershell $env:CustomTestTarget = 'net10.0' & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' format 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests.csproj' --no-restore --verify-no-changes --severity info --verbosity quiet --include 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Bounds.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Health.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Structure.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClient.Values.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\AmbClientFactory.cs' 'src\Opc.Ua.AMB.Client\Hosting\OpcUaAmbClientBuilderExtensions.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.Traversal.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbBoundedClientTests.Values.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientServerE2eTests.cs' 'tests\Opc.Ua.AMB.Tests\AmbClientTests.cs' ``` <details> <summary>Initial extraction validation and environment history</summary> The original extraction passed all 263 AMB tests on both TFMs. Its initial net48 run had one unchanged maintenance-test server-start timeout; shortening only NUnit.WorkDirectory resolved it, consistent with certificate-store path lengths. This follow-up used a short directory from the start and all 285 cases passed on both frameworks. A no-restore test invocation during the follow-up initially executed no tests; it was not counted as passing evidence. A no-restore build identified `NETSDK1005` (missing net10.0 target assets after switching TFMs). The normal test invocation restored the target assets. Initial regression-test compilation issues were corrected before capturing the 16 failing behavioral cases. Both samples were built during extraction on both TFMs; each command below passed with 0 warnings and 0 errors. They were not rebuilt during this review follow-up, which does not modify the samples. ```powershell & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' build 'samples\AMB\AmbClient\AmbClient.csproj' --configuration Release --framework net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --nologo --verbosity quiet & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' build 'samples\AMB\AmbServer\AmbServer.csproj' --configuration Release --framework net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --nologo --verbosity quiet & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' build 'samples\AMB\AmbClient\AmbClient.csproj' --configuration Release --framework net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 --nologo --verbosity quiet & 'D:\git\UA-.NETStandard_master\TestResults\ualens-528-deep-repro\sdk\dotnet.exe' build 'samples\AMB\AmbServer\AmbServer.csproj' --configuration Release --framework net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 --nologo --verbosity quiet ``` </details> This remains a draft: the complete `UA.slnx` net48/net10.0 matrix, coverage, CI/CodeQL and CLA status are not established by this focused validation. No coverage increase or complete-solution pass is claimed. The feedback commit is based on the original AMB extraction; integration of later lower-layer updates is coordinated separately, without rewriting this branch or native stack 4807. ## Related Issues - References #4461, the existing tracking issue; this PR does not close it. - Extracted from #4462 at frozen head `390c4a7a51b71da40caec2d22ef74518bbe670ce`; the source PR is not closed by this PR. - Immediate predecessor: #4802 (`marcschier-extract-client-and-server`), above core/types #4801. Fail closed when reconnect cannot preserve endpoint security (#4809)
# Description It was reported that endpoint refresh during reconnect (`UpdateBeforeConnect` / reconnect endpoint update) could silently change a connection's security configuration (e.g. from `SignAndEncrypt` to a different mode/policy) without the application knowing. Investigation showed the hard downgrade paths had already been fixed, but the legacy `SessionReconnectHandler` still had a composite-score fallback that could select a *different* security mode/policy when the original combination was no longer offered by the (unauthenticated) discovery reply. A stronger mode could offset a weaker or deprecated policy in that score. Managed failover/alternate-network endpoints also had no explicit mode/policy guard. Changes: - **`SessionReconnectHandler`**: removed `SelectFallbackEndpoint` and the alternate-policy fallback. If the exact mode/policy is unavailable, reconnect fails (logged as an error) instead of changing security. - **`ManagedSession`**: added a mode/policy mismatch check; mismatched alternate-network endpoints, reactivation targets and failover/recreation targets are rejected with `BadSecurityModeRejected` / `BadSecurityPolicyRejected` before a channel is opened. - Endpoint refresh for **certificate rotation is retained**; new server certificates are still subject to normal trust validation. - **Docs** (`docs/Sessions.md`): documents exact mode/policy preservation during recovery and that `UpdateBeforeConnect` does not authorize security negotiation. Changing policy requires explicit reconfiguration and a new connection. - **Tests**: replaced fallback-selection tests with a fail-closed legacy reconnect test; added managed alternate-endpoint policy mismatch and failover mode mismatch tests. Validation: - `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.Client.Tests/Opc.Ua.Client.Tests.csproj -f net10.0 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~SessionReconnectHandlerTests|FullyQualifiedName~ManagedSessionTests"` — passed (48/48) - `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.Core.Tests/Opc.Ua.Core.Tests.csproj -f net10.0 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~ConfiguredEndpointTests"` — passed (46/46) - Full UA.slnx suite and net48 tests: not run locally. ## Related Issues - Reported security concern: reconnect endpoint refresh could change the session's security configuration without notifying the application. ## Checklist - [ ] I have signed the [CLA](https://opcfoundation.org/license/cla/ContributorLicenseAgreementv1.0.pdf) and read the [CONTRIBUTING](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) doc. - [x] I have added tests that prove my fix is effective or that my feature works and increased code coverage. - [x] I have added all necessary documentation. - [x] I have verified that my changes do not introduce (new) build or analyzer warnings. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

Client/server transfer, WSS, and hosting fixes (#4802)
# Description Layer 2 of the upstream non-UaLens extraction, with core/types prerequisite #4801 (`marcschier-extract-core-and-types`). The initial extraction commit `86ff10d3994f132f7343a929abdae209bc2e69b7` started from `8881e096fb5e4eaa36f3c13f8caa57733373bd19` and copied exactly 13 client/server paths from #4462 at frozen head `390c4a7a51b71da40caec2d22ef74518bbe670ce`, using its original base `5b03e9afa492cdb36049ee52ae844f630f89d8db`. Those initial blobs were source-identical; the core/types layer was not duplicated or rewritten. - Add bounded temporary-file copying with byte/request limits, session ownership checks, and independent bounded cleanup. - Refresh revised monitored-item parameters after snapshot transfer and notify the target handler after successful handle synchronization. - Apply WSS opening deadlines while preserving caller cancellation, and cover the wire envelope and request timeout behavior. - Make hosted server presets honor role configuration without replacing an explicitly registered role manager; include the corresponding tests and documentation. **Review follow-up:** commit `a5c8fe0884ad3346106529deba71d93c5df20a9a` intentionally corrects three defects in the extracted bounded-copy implementation. It captures one `SessionRequestContext` for managed transfers, calls the standard `FileType.Close` declaration without metadata discovery, and retains valid generation handles before rejecting non-Good status or malformed metadata. Read/Close remain strictly validated, and transfer/cleanup failures remain independently visible. The follow-up also adds 21 direct-client regression cases and updates `docs/FileSystemClient.md`, bringing this PR to 15 changed paths. The current bounded-copy implementation is therefore intentionally no longer identical to the frozen source. No UaLens projects/UI, AMB or Machinery implementations, samples, CI/native renderer changes, release changes, or generic infrastructure files are included. The follow-up does not merge/rebase a lower or upper stack layer. **Current review-fix validation:** normal analyzers and warnings-as-errors remained enabled, using the existing SDK **10.0.401** without changing `global.json`, installing an SDK, or adding suppressions. The final file-system and session-context selection passed **241 tests on net10.0 and 241 tests on net48**, with **0 failed and 0 skipped** on each. Both selections include all 21 new regressions. Before the production fix, the first 20-case regression suite had 13 failures and 7 passes, reproducing the lost cleanup, cancellation, session-recreation and Close-discovery defects. An additional deterministic recovery-gate race case was then added and passed on both frameworks. Informational-severity formatting/style/analyzer checks passed for the changed C# files. | Review requirement | Direct regression evidence | | --- | --- | | Pin the managed generation through copying and cleanup | `CopyRejectsRecreatedManagedGenerationAsync`, `CopyRejectsRecoveryBetweenGenerationAndReadDispatchAsync` | | Preserve a generation response that returns after cancellation | `ManagedCopyClosesHandleReturnedAfterCancellationAsync` with immediate and delayed responses through a real managed transport lease | | Do not spend the Close deadline discovering metadata | `CopyUsesDeclarationCloseWithoutDiscoveryAsync` for ordinary and managed sessions | | Retain valid handles before rejecting generation status/metadata | `CopyClosesHandleBeforeRejectingGenerationStatusAsync`, `CopyClosesHandleFromMalformedGenerationResponseAsync` | | Preserve error semantics and strict Read/Close validation | `CopyRejectsGenerationWithoutInventingHandleAsync`, `CopyPreservesGenerationAndCleanupFailuresAsync`, `CopyKeepsReadAndCloseStatusValidationAsync` | <details> <summary>Exact review-fix validation commands and results</summary> Commands ran from this layer's repository root. CRLF, final newlines and the 120-column C# limit were also checked. ``` Initial no-restore test attempts after switching frameworks exited without executing tests and were not counted as passes. Diagnostic `dotnet build ... --no-restore` runs reported `NETSDK1005` for the missing framework assets; normal restore was then allowed. Test-authoring compile errors were corrected before recording the red run, without suppressions. Intermediate broader selections passed 240/240 on each framework before the queued-recovery case increased the final count to 241. </details> **Initial-extraction validation (commit `86ff10d3994f132f7343a929abdae209bc2e69b7`):** these results are historical, not a claim that the broader initial selections were rerun after the review fix. The server test assembly was built as a dependency of the client project before its `--no-build` runs. | Initial targeted scope | net10.0 | net48 | | --- | --- | --- | | Client subscriptions and file system | Passed: 546, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | Passed: 542, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | | Hosted roles, identity, composition, fluent APIs and builder coverage | Passed: 164, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | Passed: 164, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | | WebAPI WSS transport | Passed: 37, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | Not supported: the repository excludes this .NET 8+ test project on net48 | | V2 transfer and snapshot integration | Passed: 6, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | Passed: 6, Failed: 0, Skipped: 0 | The first broader net48 hosting run had **9 startup timeouts and certificate leaks** (155 passed). A single startup case reproduced the failure. With only a shorter `NUnit.WorkDirectory`, the isolated case and then all 164 hosting cases passed, with certificate leak tracking enabled and no teardown leaks. This is consistent with the fixture's documented .NET Framework PKI path-length constraint; no source or diagnostic suppression was changed. Both failed runs and successful reruns are recorded below. **Deferred coverage:** the broader domain-level `MachineryResultTransferTests*.cs` fixtures remain in Machinery layer #4804. They were not imported or run here. This review follow-up adds direct-client coverage for the three defects instead. The Machinery owner has been informed that the old expectations for failed Close discovery and zero cleanup after a returned non-Good generation response must be reconciled when the lower fixes are propagated. **Not run:** complete `UA.slnx` suites on net48/net10.0, a coverage measurement, CI/CodeQL completion, native/fuzz qualifications, or package publishing. This remains a draft pending full-stack integration and CI evidence. <details> <summary>Initial-extraction validation command arguments and outcomes</summary> All commands ran from this layer's repository root. Add MachineTool, WMTP, GMS and CranesHoists companions (#4765)
# Description _Describe the changes here to communicate to the maintainers why they should accept this pull request. By default - this will become the Commit message after merging and thus define history._ Add provider-backed MachineTool, bundled WMTP, GMS and CranesHoists companions using the existing Machinery/MachineVision fluent, DI and typed-client approach. **The PR is open/non-draft by user choice. Current head `ecc4a7d6ca3e8004cf28ab54da605da302d026bf` is mergeable and has 108 successful checks, six intentionally skipped checks, zero failures and zero pending checks. All five primary workflows completed successfully at that exact head.** | Family | Released specification/model | Packaging | | --- | --- | --- | | MachineTool | OPC 40501-1, 1.02.0 | Model, Server, Client and MCP; normal root versions | | WMTP | OPC 40505, 1.0.0 | Bundled in MachineTool; distinct CLR/wire namespace and independent WMTP-only hosting | | GMS | OPC 40210 reference 1.0.1, normative model 1.0.0 | Model, Server, Client and MCP; normal root versions | | CranesHoists | OPC 40020-1, 1.00 | Model, Server, Client and MCP; all four plus Debug variants forced preview | There are **12 new packable projects**. No separate WMTP package/profile/guide, root version bump, tag, release or package publication is included. Mandatory instance structure is the default; selected optional features require explicit providers. The implementation reuses Machinery results/jobs/files/ProcessValues and Robotics topology, including retained MachineTool Production, defined GMS jobs/parts, modern ISA95/Machinery jobs, shared-owner hosting and isolated instances alongside MachineVision. Runtime and integration fixes preserve raw quality/timestamps, coherent acquisition, namespace ownership, accepted-configuration state, borrowed-resource lifetime, session/node/file cleanup, terminal-value publication, event propagation and endpoint-aware capability publication. Firmware/licence transfer means provider acceptance, not installation/activation. Cancellation does not silently abort another caller's operation. The later upstream MCP expansion is integrated without losing either family set or its default-off privileged/live execution policy. ### Conformance and scope Canonical model inputs are pinned to UA-Nodeset revision `96a08945425d0295edb3607d2a38f6841ef44046`. **GMS upstream exception:** [Annex A.1](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-40210/annex-a) makes the released NodeSet normative, but §12.3.2.7 requires undefined `GMS_ProductionStatisticsType`. Inherited statistics and defined jobs/parts are implemented without inventing a standard type/NodeId; the complete GMS Production facet is withheld. The requirement ledger records **102 positively evidenced CU rows, 96 directly negative-tested rows and six explicit negative-evidence limitations**. All 648 test-class/name/TRX links were independently resolved to passing cases. The six limitations concern Stacklight, retained legacy PowerOnDuration, Machinery PowerOnDuration, WorkingUnit, Obligation and MaintenanceMode. They are not claims that every invalid-input or hardware-control behavior was tested. The undefined GMS requirement is outside the 102 defined CUs. No external certification claim is made. Retained baseline complete-assembly line coverage, with generated code retained and no source exclusions: | Family | Model | Server | Client | | --- | ---: | ---: | ---: | | MachineTool/WMTP | 83.80% | 91.98% | 84.74% | | GMS | 95.51% | 90.63% | 88.38% | | CranesHoists | 92.76% | 94.45% | 92.24% | These nine measurements predate the later focused review fixes and merges; they are not relabelled as new `ecc4a7d6c` percentages. The current head's separate CI code-coverage check succeeded. No new exclusions or threshold relaxations were introduced. ## Related Issues - Fixes [#4764](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/issues/4764), the implementation/design and acceptance tracker. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. PubSub server: organize PublishedDataSets under PublishSubscribe.PublishedDataSets (#4793)
# Description PubSubNodeManager looked up the parent of the PublishedDataSet and DataSetFolder objects it materializes by NodeId i=14478. That is DataSetFolderType's <DataSetFolderName> placeholder, an InstanceDeclaration of the type, not the PublishSubscribe.PublishedDataSets object (i=17371). Every PublishedDataSet therefore became a child of the type definition and the standard PublishedDataSets folder stayed empty. Use ObjectIds.PublishSubscribe_PublishedDataSets as the parent. The test harnesses now expose the real folder and the placeholder, and a new test asserts that a PublishedDataSet ends up under the folder and that the placeholder gains no children. ## Related Issues None.

Extract core/types fixes for schemas, replay, and source generation (#4801)
# Description Extract the reusable core/types layer from #4462 without including UaLens or the other planned extraction layers. - Preserve null versus empty in `ByteString.Copy`, and provide older-framework path, random-byte, and SHA-256 convenience APIs. - Encode abstract numeric structure fields (`Number`, `Integer`, and `UInteger`) as Variants in JSON, XSD, and BSD schemas, with regression coverage and schema documentation. - Add opt-in complete-file validation for finalized PCAP replay while retaining the existing tolerant reader default. - Keep placeholder references on generated type templates, not runtime instances, while preserving ordinary external references. **Initial extraction:** commit `8881e096fb5e4eaa36f3c13f8caa57733373bd19` preserves the assigned changes from source `390c4a7a51b71da40caec2d22ef74518bbe670ce`, based on pinned `master` commit `5b03e9afa492cdb36049ee52ae844f630f89d8db`: 20 exact full-file extractions and only the generic replay paragraph in `docs/Diagnostics.md`. The UaLens capture-window paragraph remains with the source PR. No UaLens projects, UI, native-rendering paths, dependencies, or workflows are included. **Review follow-up:** `814c0f2dc6056ea5eb898611565b3e96cfa65104` fixes direct-placeholder references that bypassed filtering through `TargetPath` and emitted an undefined `forInstance` guard in instance-only factories. Filtering now follows target resolution. Compilation/reference-shape regressions cover ObjectType/VariableType, both placeholder rules, and direct-child/external targets; `docs/NodeManagers.md` documents the behavior. The review thread was resolved after publication and verification. **CI follow-up:** `93ec3928bd5a9cb2ea86110085e79131db17d443` addresses both causes found in [CI run 38700770996](https://github.com/OPCFoundation/UA-.NETStandard/actions/runs/38700770996): - `MODELGEN012` treated an identical payload-less transitive dependency declaration as a competing model producer after the SDK Programs model appeared in newer `master`. Matching closure rows no longer emit that diagnostic. Producer ordering is unchanged; actual producers, differing declarations, and malformed payload handling retain their existing diagnostics. New regression cases exercise both reference orders, and `docs/ModelDependencies.md` records the distinction. - The queue-fairness test sampled OS scheduling and failed on macOS. This reuses the exact one-file correction from `84d2c34d3902bfe700a87f6c30708b435500878f` in #4765: hold the existing heavy-owner publication hook, prove concurrent work-conserving progress, then assert exact recovered 1:3 service, all 960 unique requests, and complete queue/token/owner/lease cleanup. No production scheduler or fairness bound was changed. The PR now changes 26 paths. Its pinned extraction ancestry is preserved: no rebase, force push, or merge of newer `master` was performed. This remains the bottom of native stack 4807, ordered 4801 -> 4802 -> 4803 -> 4804 -> 4806. ### Current CI-repair validation Windows, existing .NET SDK **10.0.401**, **Release**, with analyzers enabled. CI tested merge `9a2d252793da12aeb99ed379dfc9b03e89c912b7` (master `d40843c23a5fe8116ffe380cf937d88759f5218b` plus PR head `814c0f2dc6056ea5eb898611565b3e96cfa65104`), which includes newer tests absent from the pinned extraction branch. That exact merge was reproduced in a disposable detached worktree, then the proposed patch was applied. Git patch-id verified that the tested patch and committed branch patch were identical (`b7ed3ba2b61d1862825dd33d93c50c64d3a759ea`). Before the fix, all four failing client-accessor cases reproduced `MODELGEN012`, and both new matching-reexport cases failed. After the fix: | Context / scope | Framework | Passed | Failed | Skipped | | --- | --- | ---: | ---: | ---: | | Exact CI merge + patch: client-accessor and dependency fixtures | net10.0 | 32 | 0 | 0 | | Same fixtures with CI coverage instrumentation | net10.0 | 32 | 0 | 0 | | Exact CI merge + patch: entire SourceGeneration.Tests project | net10.0 | 295 | 0 | 0 | | Exact CI merge + patch: entire SourceGeneration.Tests project | net48 | 295 | 0 | 0 | | Preserved PR branch: dependency and placeholder fixtures | net10.0 | 30 | 0 | 0 | | Preserved PR branch: dependency and placeholder fixtures | net48 | 30 | 0 | 0 | | Preserved PR branch: entire FairRequestQueueTests fixture, with coverage | net10.0 | 93 | 0 | 0 | | Preserved PR branch: entire FairRequestQueueTests fixture | net48 | 93 | 0 | 0 | | Exact CI merge + patch: entire FairRequestQueueTests fixture, with coverage | net10.0 | 93 | 0 | 0 | All nine commands exited **0**. The placeholder-review follow-up had six passing focused cases and 269 passing tests in the full source-generator project on each framework, with analyzer-enabled builds. Those are historical results for their respective commits, not fresh full-suite evidence for the CI-repair head. Client: make the UaFileInfo constructor public (#4790)
# Description FileSystemClient hands out UaFileInfo objects only for files it resolves by path below its root directory. An application that already knows the NodeId of a FileType object, for example from a reference or a method result, could not get a UaFileInfo for it because the constructor was internal, and had to fall back to the raw FileTypeClient proxy. The constructor is now public and documented, and it rejects a null segment list. A test creates a UaFileInfo for a known NodeId and reads its metadata through it. ## Related Issues None.

Implement OPC UA Part 10 Programs (#4789)
# Description Implement OPC UA Part 10 Programs across `Opc.Ua.Core`/`Core.Types`, `Opc.Ua.Server`, and `Opc.Ua.Client`, reusing the existing state-machine, source-generation, node-management, auditing, and streaming-subscription infrastructure. - Add asynchronous provider-backed execution, standard controls, internal/autonomous transitions, generation checks, and nested-state activation/resumption. - Add checked creation/adoption, vendor Create adapters, deletion, recycling and instance limits, auto-delete, DI, and direct-construction paths. - Maintain ProgramDiagnostic2 and retained final results; publish captured intermediate results and concrete transition/audit events with access controls. - Add generated SDK models/proxies, typed client discovery and reads, event streams, and subscribe-before-call readiness handling. - Add unit, connected client/server, generated Annex A-style model, and NativeAOT coverage. Document usage and migration in `docs/Programs.md` and related guides. ### Compatibility and design decisions The linked Part 10 document is v1.05.00; namespace-zero definitions remain aligned with 1.05.07. Documentation distinguishes normative requirements from conflicting specification text and SDK conventions. - Correct state numbers to Halted=11, Ready=12, Running=13, Suspended=14. Generated subtypes retain inherited namespace-zero state/transition identifiers. - Managed Reset is Halted-to-Ready only. Preserve the existing low-level Reset-from-Suspended behavior for compatibility. - Preserve UInt32 limit types; use `UInt32.MaxValue` as a documented SDK unlimited convention. RecycleCount overflow reports BadOutOfRange without stopping unlimited execution. - In-memory default with injectable providers. Durable recovery, distributed execution/failover, and a production Annex A download engine are excluded. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Server: make TrustList.ValidateNewTrustListAsync public (#4799)
# Description TrustList validates an uploaded TrustList before CloseAndUpdate commits it: every certificate is validated against the new TrustList (the uploaded certificates and CRLs, or the current stores for lists that were not specified), CRLs must belong to a CA of the result, and IssuerCertificates must be CA certificates. The check was private, so an application that applies a TrustList by other means, for example a GDS push it receives through its own channel, could not apply the same check first and had to duplicate it. The method is now public and documented; its behaviour is unchanged. A test calls it for an accepted TrustList, for one whose issuer is missing and for one that lists a leaf certificate as an issuer. ## Related Issues None.

Add recycling simulator and plastics/rubber companion packages (#4772)
# Description Add a generic, company-neutral recycling simulation sample and reusable plastics/rubber companion-model packages. One durable causal coordinator and ten separately launched OPC UA process views provide deterministic material balances, finite buffers, genealogy, utilities, quality holds/disposition, authenticated controls and crash recovery. Process views consume committed state instead of running independent simulations. Real companion-model equipment instances use DI/Machinery/AMB discovery, Machine Vision, Pumps/Scales, granulate drying, extrusion, filtration and pelletizing. Vendor/process extensions remain sample-local. Connectors and WoT conversion are out of scope. **External source-contract parity and complete deployment qualification are not claimed complete.** The sample and managed tests target **.NET 8, 9 and 10**. The consolidated [recycling guide](samples/Recycling/README.md) explains the actual composition, simulation, observation paths and exposed data; the application-directory README points to that guide. Typed client member extensions are emitted at build time through the default-false `ModelSourceGeneratorClientAccessorsOnly` opt-in. Extrusion uses it for all twelve parts instead of checked-in generated C# and a Python generator. The shared client runtime retains typed values, quality, timestamps and streaming behavior. ### Package layout Six packages contain fourteen models in two model-producing assemblies: | Specifications | Model | Typed client | Server runtime | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | OPC 40083 and OPC 40082-6 | `Opc.Ua.PlasticsRubber` | `Opc.Ua.PlasticsRubber.Client` | `Opc.Ua.PlasticsRubber.Server` | | OPC 40084 parts 1–12 | `Opc.Ua.Extrusion` | `Opc.Ua.Extrusion.Client` | `Opc.Ua.Extrusion.Server` | NuGet IDs use the `OPCFoundation.NetStandard.` prefix. All six packages are registered in `.azurepipelines/expected-packages.txt` and the generated preview-pack solution. Granulate-drying code lives in `GranulateDrying` folders in the PlasticsRubber projects; extrusion uses per-part folders. There are no standalone granulate-drying or per-part extrusion packages. Published model identities and CLR namespaces remain distinct and unchanged. The common 1.03 interface is independently authored on the explicitly MIT-licensed 1.02 implementation basis; the official 1.03 XML is not redistributed. The other imported models retain their individual MIT notices. All 42 pinned model, identifier and basis files retain their manifest-backed bytes, including their staged Git blobs. No formal companion certification is claimed; the disputed Filter profile is not advertised. ## Related Issues No tracking issue is currently linked. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Complete model-change reporting for committed node deletions (#4778)
# Description Finalize deletion model-change reporting from observed address-space outcomes, including when later cleanup fails or the caller cancels the request. A shared internal snapshot captures registered subtree nodes, pre-removal NodeVersion eligibility, and relevant reference endpoints. Completion reports only removed nodes and references actually removed from surviving local nodes, then rethrows the original deletion failure. If reporting also fails, both errors remain visible. This preserves notifications for versioned descendants below unversioned roots and applies strict deletion eligibility to the service-facing overload. It avoids blindly reporting the requested subtree from a finally block. For endpoints owned by another node manager in the same server, reporting requires target-reference cleanup to be both requested and successful because the remaining foreign references cannot be inspected locally. A successful service deletion with `DeleteTargetReferences = false` does not imply foreign reference removal. Reporting covers both directions of hierarchical and non-hierarchical references; absolute targets are excluded, matching the cleanup path. Master cleanup now propagates a bad per-reference `DeleteReferenceAsync` result as a `ServiceResultException`. A normal return with a bad status is therefore not mistaken for successful foreign cleanup. Committed local changes are still reported before the cleanup failure is rethrown; unconfirmed foreign reference removals are not reported. The branch includes the merge of current master after #4776 and #4777 merged. This PR preserves their per-node monitored-item restoration, independent cleanup budgets, and NodeVersion eligibility behavior. It does not introduce further monitored-item completion changes; the remaining diff is outcome-based model-change completion, its regression tests, and documentation. It contains no release-version changes. ## Related Issues _Reference all GitHub issues this PR addresses. The following command covers the deletion/model-change regressions, the complete monitored-item lifecycle fixture, and the master node-management dispatcher fixture: ```powershell & 'C:\Program Files\dotnet\dotnet.exe' exec 'C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk\10.0.402\dotnet.dll' test tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests.csproj --no-restore -f net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 -p:NuGetAudit=false -m:2 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~AsyncCustomNodeManagerTests&Name~Delet|FullyQualifiedName~AsyncCustomNodeManagerNodeManagementTests&Name~DeleteNode|FullyQualifiedName~MonitoredItemManagerLifecycleTests|FullyQualifiedName~MasterNodeManagerNodeManagementTests" --logger "trx;LogFileName=foreign-cleanup-status-net48.trx" --results-directory 'C:\Users\crpogace\.copilot\session-state\f4f431fc-413e-40d4-88a7-83f6ade0c9a7\files\foreign-cleanup-status-results' ``` Result: **296 passed, 0 failed**; 25 fixture combinations are inapplicable to the legacy adapter and were not executed. Regression coverage includes late cleanup failure/cancellation, pre-mutation cancellation, partial subtree removal, service eligibility, versioned descendants, preservation of simultaneous deletion/reporting failures, foreign-reference direction/type combinations, requested versus omitted cleanup, failed cleanup, and absolute-target exclusion. New regressions exercise the real master cleanup dispatcher with `Good`, `BadNotSupported`, and `BadUnexpectedError` results across async internal/service deletion and legacy runtime deletion. Before the fix, 10 bad-status cases failed; the 5 successful-cleanup controls passed. **Current-head net10.0 tests were not executed locally:** the machine now has SDK 10.0.402 rather than the pinned 10.0.401. Restore requires `Microsoft.NET.ILLink.Tasks` 10.0.13, which is absent from the local cache, and the NuGet endpoint fails its TLS handshake. This is an environment/restore blocker, not a test failure. The explicit SDK invocation above does not change the repository SDK pin. `NuGetAudit=false` was invocation-only because the audit endpoint was unavailable; repository audit settings are unchanged. The earlier pre-merge revision `0c53e143b` passed 96 focused deletion tests on each of net10.0 and net48, with 22 inapplicable fixture combinations per framework. Those historical results do not establish net10.0 validation of the current merged head. Full net48/net10.0 solution validation has not been completed locally. The ordinary .NET 10 VSTest invocation cannot run the unchanged AOT projects' Microsoft.Testing.Platform suites; this is a mixed-runner invocation limitation, not evidence of an AOT compilation defect. Their supported validation path is native publish-and-run, as used in CI. A separate local Historian native AOT run passed 2/2 tests earlier in this work, but does not establish complete AOT or current-head validation. CI was still running when this description was updated; the full-suite and CI checklist items remain unchecked. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

Preserve NodeVersion eligibility when deleting runtime nodes (#4777)
# Description Preserve a runtime node's NodeVersion eligibility before removing it from the address space. Previously, deletion removed the local node before model-change filtering, which then treated it as an unresolved external node and emitted a spurious NodeDeleted entry. This fixes unversioned runtime/session-diagnostics deletion in both AsyncCustomNodeManager and the legacy CustomNodeManager. Strict mode suppresses unversioned deletion entries; versioned nodes and the explicit compatibility mode keep their events. The regression matrix exercises all four eligibility combinations across both async configurations and the legacy adapter. The documentation now cites OPC UA Part 3 section 9.32.2, which requires NodeVersion/model-change correlation. This PR is intentionally limited to the original eligibility bug. Per-node monitoring completion and outcome-based model-change completion are separate changes tracked in #4768 and #4769, including broader subtree/service-deletion handling. ## Related Issues _Reference all GitHub issues this PR addresses. If there is no issue yet, open one and link it here._ _If this is a relatively large or complex change, a design must have been discussed in the related tracking issue and signed off (which becomes the Architectural Decision Record (ADR))._ - Fixes #4770 - Related: #4768, #4769 ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Focused reruns: ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --filter "Name~DeleteNodePreservesModelChangeEligibilityAsync" ``` Result: **12 passed, 0 failed**. ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -f net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 --filter "Name~DeleteNodePreservesModelChangeEligibilityAsync" ``` Result: **12 passed, 0 failed**. Full-solution .NET 10 validation was attempted, but the unchanged AOT test projects reject the VSTest target with Microsoft.Testing.Platform 2.4.1 under SDK 10.0.401. The run was stopped after this blocker was confirmed. It is not reported as a passing suite. Exact isolated reproduction of the blocker: ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests\Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 -p:NuGetAudit=false ``` Result: **failed** with "Testing with VSTest target is no longer supported by Microsoft.Testing.Platform on .NET 10 SDK and later." The full net48 solution was not run. Restore/build commands used `NuGetAudit=false` because NuGet's audit endpoint was unavailable; repository audit settings are unchanged. Published as a draft by request until the full validation/CI gates are satisfied. No release-version files are included; this branch starts from master. Restore monitoring for survivors of partial node deletion (#4776)
# Description Complete failed recursive deletion according to each monitored node's actual state, rather than inferring the entire subtree's outcome from the root. Monitored items for removed nodes remain detached and source-deleted. Items for surviving descendants are restored with their existing identity and ownership. Restoration attempts continue after individual failures, and compensation failures are surfaced together with the original deletion failure. The change covers internal and service-facing async deletion and the synchronous compatibility path. Regression tests monitor both the removed root and surviving child across both monitored-item implementations. ## Related Issues _Reference all GitHub issues this PR addresses. The entire monitored-item lifecycle fixture, including six new partial-subtree cases and four new compensation-failure cases, passed: ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~MonitoredItemManagerLifecycleTests" ``` Result: **63 passed, 0 failed**. ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests\Opc.Ua.Server.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -f net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~MonitoredItemManagerLifecycleTests" ``` Result: **63 passed, 0 failed**. The full-solution .NET 10 VSTest invocation is blocked by the unchanged AOT test projects' Microsoft.Testing.Platform configuration. Full net48/net10 solution validation and CI remain outstanding. The blocker was reproduced in the original-fix worktree with: ```powershell dotnet test tests\Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests\Opc.Ua.Aot.Tests.csproj --no-build --no-restore -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 -p:NuGetAudit=false ``` Result: **failed** because Microsoft.Testing.Platform 2.4.1 rejects VSTest under SDK 10.0.401. Restore/build commands used `NuGetAudit=false` because the audit endpoint was unavailable; repository audit settings are unchanged. This is an independent master-based draft. It does not include the separate NodeVersion eligibility fix or the model-change completion redesign. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

Add additional companion spec MCP tool profiles (#4731)
# Description Expose existing stack APIs through **337 additional domain MCP tools**: 114 industrial-companion tools, 35 WoT/xRegistry/document tools, and 188 higher-level stack-workflow tools. The fully enabled catalogue contains **492 tools**; profile selection is not an execution grant. The packages now follow the reviewed structure: **`Opc.Ua.Mcp.Workflows`** contains roles/users, files, alarms and history; **`Opc.Ua.Mcp.WotCon`** contains management/documents and independently registered live WoT execution. GDS and schema tools remain separate packages. The executable composes **18 libraries**. | Workflow | Added domain tools | Profiles | | --- | ---: | --- | | GDS directory, certificates, reference-only credentials/tokens and Part 21 onboarding | 46 | `gds`, `certificates`, `credentials`, `onboarding` | | Roles/users, regular and temporary files, alarms/conditions and historical access | 74 | `roles`, `users`, `files`, `alarms`, `history` | | Bounded runtime types, XSD/BSD/UA JSON, PubSub and REST OpenAPI artifacts | 6 | `schemas` | | Named PubSub transports, remote configuration, declarative adapters/bridges and SKS | 52 | `pubsub-runtime`, `pubsub-configuration`, `pubsub-bridge`, `pubsub-security` | | Live HTTP(S), MQTT, Modbus TCP and OPC UA WoT forms | 10 | `wot-runtime` | - Reuse typed clients, generated proxies, SDK transports, schema providers and injected services rather than introducing another session manager or protocol engine. - Require host enablement plus exact caller/session/secret/network grants. Protected generic Call/Write/node-management/history/file paths enforce the same policy. - Bind classifications, dispatches, file handles and historical cursors to actual UA generations. Recovery cannot retarget an old handle or authorized mutation. Preserve acknowledged results after late cancellation; do not imply atomicity or retry business commands. - Use opaque secret-store references, explicit writable-store registration, issuer/resource/caller binding and reserved capacity before issuance. Report remote success/local persistence failure as partial completion; redact provider-controlled diagnostic text. - Bound new named runtimes to eight per host, two per caller, five-minute idle expiry and a thirty-minute absolute lease by default. Pending/closing resources consume quota; failed cleanup remains visible. Credential invalidation and session recovery close dependent runtimes. - Keep document planning separate from execution, artifacts root-confined and real JSON inputs typed. Preserve old profile ordinals while widening the set to 64 bits. CI grades fully enabled privileged catalogues rather than connection-only views. **Limitations:** live Kafka remains explicitly unavailable because the backend cannot enforce policy on broker-discovered connections; configuration/schema/capability inspection stays available. The latest public Dekaf v1.23.5 was also checked and its DNS injection remains internal. No private-API workaround or bootstrap-only security claim was added. Full legacy Core registration retains its documented JSON-reflection limitation: native tests isolate its four connection descriptors and validate the expanded production registrations, not whole-host NativeAOT support. ## Related Issues - Fixes #4730. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. XRegistry: registration lifecycle, identifier allocation, registrar roles and atomic Resource replace (#4756)
# Description Extracts the generic xRegistry registration lifecycle from the WoT work into a standalone, master-targeted change: - Canonical xRegistry identifier allocation (`XRegistryIdentifier`) with case-folded bounded collision handling and exact Version allocation/delete semantics. - Registrar roles / capabilities in the xRegistry NodeSet2 model (only the roles/capabilities facts). - Default-Version views and Resource Meta handling. - FileType read/write modes, session ownership/discard, cursor handling, and short reads until actual EOF on the client. - Atomic whole-document `ReplaceAsync` on the in-memory and file-system resource stores. - Generic projection engine/provisioning and projection contracts, label ownership/no-op behavior, Resource-vs-Version event targets. - Documentation in `docs/XRegistry.md` and XML docs for owned members. - Tests: Identifier, RegistrarRoles, Attribute, Projection, RegistrationEvent, FileMode, ResourceStore, Client, VersionAssignment, concurrent read. Intentionally excluded (handled in separate PRs): trusted Federation / Registry origin model and provider (G9); WoT lease/dispatcher, prepared manifest, 0.7 model/version bump (G12). XRegistry: trusted logical-Resource federation identity (#4755)
# Description Adds trusted **logical-Resource** federation identity to XRegistry - A federation proxy binds an origin registry (`RegistryOriginDataType`), application, portable `ResourceNodeId` and Xid, never an endpoint or content-digest identity. - `XRegistryFederationTarget`, `IXRegistryFederationProvider`, `XRegistryClient.Federation` (verify/follow/relocate; uses master's `ISessionBindingProvider.CreateBindingAsync`). - `XRegistryFederationNodeManager`, `XRegistryServerOptions`/DI: required target/provider verification and proxy admission. - Model hunks only: `RegistryOriginDataType` 63026 (+encodings 63591/63592), `OriginRegistry` 63593 + `ResourceType` HasProperty, `ExternalReference`/`ResourceUrl` description rewrites. - Tests (`XRegistryFederationNodeManagerTests`), package READMEs, `docs/XRegistry.md` Federation section (links `SessionBindings.md`). Capture metadata images and generation-bound session clients (#4752)
# Description - Add isolated NodeState reference images, TypeTable graph snapshots, EncodeableFactory registration forks/views, StringTable mutation versions/private copies, and ServiceMessageContext mapping-holder generation tracking. Reference images are lazy for empty nodes; selected-image clones own independent storage and publication ownership. - Add the complete generic NodeBrowser continuation-dependency capability. This does not implement server browse-history retention, NodeManager read images, or server batch/readiness admission. - Add optional client binding capture for SessionClient, native Session and ManagedSession, with managed-lease/native-channel generation composition. Bindings capture authenticated-session identity, mapping holders/versions and owned endpoint/policy/configuration observations. Replacement, reconnect, mapping ABA and disposal permanently invalidate stale bindings; disposing a binding does not dispose its owner. - Preserve cancellation and master pooled-response ownership: a rejected pooled response is released exactly once; an accepted response remains caller-owned. Keep native transport submission under its replacement gate and completion outside the gate, without routing ordinary unbound requests through binding machinery. - Rename the existing server lookup interface and all actual consumers with minimal hunks; add focused fixtures, generated FileTypeClient usage guidance, and package/transport documentation. **Breaking preview type identity:** the existing 2.0-preview server lookup `Opc.Ua.ISessionBindingProvider` becomes `Opc.Ua.IServerSessionBindingProvider`. Server lookup consumers must update their referenced type and rebuild. This is neither source-compatible nor binary-additive for that preview type. The new client capability is optional and adds no mandatory members to existing ISession/ISessionClient/ITransportChannel contracts. This preview-to-preview rename is documented in SessionBindings/Transports, not in the 1.5-to-2.0 MigrationGuide. **Ownership boundary:** no RequestLifetime changes, certificate-manager/channel-entry adoption, BaseVariableState changes, Method-result feature extraction, NodeManager batch/readiness or browse-history retention, session restoration, registry federation, WoT conversion, or WoT runtime/planners/events. DependencyInjection/ResourceIsolation/index changes are lookup/link closure only. SessionManager's PR hunk changes only its implemented lookup-interface name; newer master public diagnostic masking is not replaced. ## Related Issues _Reference all GitHub issues this PR addresses. All accepted review runs use the unchanged admitted SDK wrapper, normal project references, sole mutex, one node/no shared compiler, finite resource guards and canonical short-C build outputs. Source hashes were frozen per command and matched the committed bytes afterward. SDK ownership was released **before** commit/push/review replies. No automatic merge was requested. Scoped whitespace passed across the four affected projects. Review INFO classification is **0 owned findings / 13 untouched baseline findings excluded** (whole-file formatter exits 1,1,0,0); no baseline RCS1140/RCS0055 expansion or suppression. Failures/incidents remain retained rather than relabeled as success: original disappeared-root historical counts are invalidated; the large-TRX controller DOM-parser failure is preserved separately from accepted streaming receipts; the review argument-array defect/default-D-output controls are preserved but excluded from canonical review qualification. Correctly separated argument rechecks produced the accepted short-C Core/Client receipts. The sole SDK wrapper was not changed. Add complete method invocation results and resolved diagnostics (#4747)
# Description `MethodInvocationResult` carries the operation result, declaration-ordered outputs and optional position-preserving input results. Asynchronous callbacks retain the actual receiver, cancellation token and resolved diagnostic strings. Fluent predefined, typed, instance, reference-child, resolved and virtual method builders reject conflicting handlers in either registration order and never overwrite materialized handlers. Direct configuration remains available. Shared Call-result assembly retains input diagnostics, including useful text on Good input positions, and requested operation diagnostics on Good results. Diagnostic encoding preserves nested Good-status text, status information bits and the outer-inclusive depth limit. Request admission clears client-supplied internal diagnostic permission flags before early returns or validation failures; admitted sessions grant the flag only after the existing administrator-role checks. Includes corresponding unit/integration regressions, complete XML API documentation, and method-result guidance consolidated with the fluent APIs in `docs/NodeManagers.md`. No WoT receiver/projection/remote-execution, event-readiness/native-admission, or bulk/history implementation is included. ## Related Issues Part of the user-approved two-wave extraction plan tracked by #4511. _If this is a relatively large or complex change, a design must have been discussed in the related tracking issue and signed off (which becomes the Architectural Decision Record (ADR))._ - Related to #4511. ## Checklist _Put an `x` in the boxes that apply. Server quick wins from the o6 benchmark gap analysis: admission sizing, sampling permission cache, routed Read dispatch (#4743)
The o6-automation benchmark gap analysis listed several server quick
wins that need no wire or public API change. This PR implements three of
them. The 2.0 server now passes the benchmark's 10 clients × 1000
outstanding Reads test with the benchmark's own queue sizing. Its 100 Hz
sampling capacity grows about 7–10× on the same machine, and a
single-value Read allocates 8 % less.

Add Machine Vision Parts 1 and 2 (#4733)
# Description Implement the released [OPC 40100-1](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-40100-1) and [OPC 40100-2](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-40100-2) specifications with generated models, provider-backed runtimes, typed clients, MCP workflows, and DI/Machinery integration. - **Part 1 stays in `Opc.Ua.Vision`** and its client/server packages alongside the distinct Perception model. Provide control/acquisition state machines, jobs and synchronized steps, recipe/product/configuration/result management, file transfers, diagnostics, events, and conditions. - **Part 2 is in `Opc.Ua.MachineVision`, `.Client`, and `.Server`.** Provide asset categories, identification, image-handling aspects, health/maintenance data, topology, and transactional updates. The base Vision assemblies do not reference these optional packages; the Part 2 wire model does not depend on Part 1. - Preserve the release-pinned model bytes, wire namespaces and NodeIds. Perception types are in `Opc.Ua.Vision.Perception`; the AMCM generated namespace remains `Opc.Ua.Vision.MachineVision.AMCM`, and asset client/server extension namespaces remain `Opc.Ua.Vision.Client` and `Opc.Ua.Vision.Server`. - Use `AddOpcUaMachineVision` and `AddOpcUaMachineVisionAMCM` for model loading and factory registration. Each has node-collection, encodeable-factory-builder and node-state-factory-builder overloads. These short entry points delegate to the generated implementations; existing namespace-derived generated names remain available for compatibility. - Support multiple independent named systems/assets under one namespace-owning manager. Reuse injectable providers, file binding, bounded memory stores, optional transactional `IFileSystemProvider` persistence, state machines, telemetry and conformance infrastructure. - Keep one `docs/Vision.md` guide, titled `Machine Vision (OPC 40100-1 and OPC 40100-2)`, and one `Opc.Ua.Mcp.Vision` package. Include deterministic server/client samples. - Expose 17 Machine Vision MCP tools, including capabilities/status, bounded relationships and observation, complete small-file uploads/downloads, management, explicit control, conditions, and chunked transfers. Catalogue counts: 39 Vision-specific, 43 with connection tools, 81 Vision+Robotics, 155 Full. Every Machine Vision wire parameter has a schema description. **Compatibility and limits:** `AddVision()` remains Perception-only unless released parts are selected. Standalone Part 2 uses `AddVision().AddMachineVision()`; Machinery composition uses `AddVisionToMachinery()`. Existing tool defaults and command signatures are preserved. Observation owns and cleans up its subscription: 5 seconds/50 notifications by default, capped at 60 seconds/100 notifications. Complete-file tools are capped at 1 MiB; larger files use chunked transfers. Domain Error values remain distinct from UA service failures. **Versioning:** the seven Vision/MachineVision/MCP packages and their Debug variants follow the repository root version instead of being forced to preview. Vision.OpenUsd and its descendants remain preview-only. Development builds still inherit the root prerelease version. No release version, tag, release branch, publication policy, or feed promotion is changed. **Review actions:** all fourteen review threads have action/evidence replies and are resolved. Changes include the unified guide, Perception namespace, separate Part 2 packages and final naming, multi-system ownership explanation, interrupted-write cleanup, observer failure isolation, complete MCP parameter descriptions, and explicit package inventory. The preview-layout migration topic and the requested ReleaseProcess caveat were removed. The test Publish collector now retries recognized transient failures within one cancellation budget and propagates other exceptions. Commit |

Fail CI when a test fixture's setup or teardown fails (#4723)
# Description
`get-test-verdict.ps1` accepts a non-zero `dotnet test` exit whenever
the TRX counters show no failure, on the assumption that the host died
at exit after every teardown had run. A failed fixture setup or teardown
breaks that assumption. The assembly-level `[OneTimeTearDown]`
certificate leak check fails after its tests passed, no TRX counter
records it, and the host exits 1. In the last 10 master runs, CI
accepted exactly that as an "at-exit stall" for `Opc.Ua.Gds.Tests` and
`Opc.Ua.Server.Tests` on every leg (net48, and net10.0 on Windows,
Linux, and macOS). #4719 fixed the Server.Tests leak; #4721 fixes the
GDS leak.
The NUnit adapter reports such a failure as a TRX run message, `<RunInfo
outcome="Error"><Text>TearDown failed for test fixture
Opc.Ua.Gds.Tests.LeakDetectionSetup</Text></RunInfo>`, followed by a
second one with the failure message. For a setup failure it writes
`Setup failed for test fixture …`.
Changes:
- `Measure-TestResults` collects these messages. `Get-TestRunVerdict
-FixtureFailures` rejects a run that has any of them, whatever the exit
code, and names the fixture in the reason.
- A host that dies at exit after a clean run is still tolerated. The
only other tolerated case in the last 10 master runs,
`Opc.Ua.Client.Tests` on net48 in run 37835429177, logged "Test host
process crashed" and stays tolerated.
- `Measure-TestResults` and `Get-CounterValue` move from
`run-dotnet-tests.ps1` to the dot-sourced `get-test-verdict.ps1`, so
`CiTestVerdictTests` can feed them TRX files. The source check of the
counter set becomes a behavioral test.
- `docs/DeveloperGuide.md` describes the rule.
**Merge order:** after #4727 (#4719 and #4721 are on master). With #4721
merged, this PR's CI still rejects `Opc.Ua.Gds.Tests` on net48: eight
`PushTest` fixtures fail in `TearDown` and leak 88 certificates when
their setup is ignored, which master accepted as an "at-exit stall".
#4727 fixes them. On every other leg, `Opc.Ua.Gds.Tests` now passes
under the rule.

Fix scoped certificate-store resolution in GDS push operations (#4726)
# Description Fix the remaining GDS push certificate paths that bypass instance-scoped certificate stores, while preserving OPC UA 1.05.07 trust and transaction requirements. - Use the configured resolver/registry for previous-key loading, slot resolution, application-store commit/rollback, issuer import/compensation, and rejected-store opening. - Validate application-certificate uploads through the configured manager and the group's registered trust scope, instead of a temporary manager that cannot see custom providers. - Isolate per-call `AcceptError` validation cores from normal cached trust decisions. Part 12 installation-time acceptance must neither reuse nor populate the connection-validation cache. - Compensate the application-certificate swap if opening the issuer store fails, not only if importing an issuer fails. - Add scoped-provider, cross-group trust, cache-isolation, and compensation regressions. Reuse the portable PEM writer and short temporary PKI paths so the tests work on .NET Framework too. - Use source-generated failure logging without private-key bytes, and document custom-store/pending-key requirements. The branch starts at master `7f14fb864fc93532f3dbab1e1b5e2ba9b5f605c5`. It excludes the unrelated LocalizedText commits, the local handoff, PLC changes, logs, keys, certificates, and build outputs. No public API, dependency, package version, global provider registration, or analyzer configuration is changed. ### Specification review The online Part 12 reference identifies version **1.05.07**. This is a focused review and regression validation of the changed behavior, **not a claim of complete stack conformance or CTT certification**. | Requirement | Review / evidence | | --- | --- | | [Part 12, 7.10.5](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.5): validate application certificates using the associated TrustList; ignore the supplied issuer list | Existing issuer-argument regressions retained. New flat-layout scoped-provider cases accept a CA installed in the selected trusted/issuer store and reject one installed only in another scope. | | [Part 4, 6.1.3](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-4/6.1.3) and Part 12, 7.10.5: suppressible installation errors must not bypass normal peer trust or non-suppressible failures | Missing-issuer, signature/revocation, explicit-trust, and validation-core tests; new two-way cache-isolation cases with `UseValidatedCertificates = true`; normal peer validation remains untrusted after issuer-only push acceptance. | | Part 12, 7.10.5: matching private key, encrypted channel and SecurityAdmin | Existing access/key/type tests retained; scoped own-store upload cases cover no uploaded key and PEM. PFX and regenerated-key cases remain in the selected suite. | | [Part 12, 7.10.2](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.2), [7.10.9](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.9), and [7.10.11](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.11): staging, ApplyChanges, cancellation, ownership and compensation | Push/transaction/rollback suites; new custom-provider compensation cases cover both issuer-import and store-open failure, retaining the old application certificate and pre-existing issuers. | | [Part 12, 7.10.7](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.7): do not delete endpoint-referenced certificates | Existing ApplyChanges endpoint-reference and delete/create replacement tests retained. | | [Part 12, 7.10.10](https://reference.opcfoundation.org/specs/OPC-10000-12/7.10.10): CSR key handling and persistence | Existing-key scoped CSR test, SDK pending-key/cancel cases, and supporting PLC encrypted round trips/restarts. Arbitrary custom backends still require a durable pending-key implementation; the separate PLC implementation is not included here. | ### Validation Windows, .NET SDK 10.0.401, Release, NUnit/VSTest. Build analyzers remained enforced: **no `WarningsNotAsErrors`, suppressions, or analyzer downgrades**. `NuGetAudit=false` was needed because the local nuget.org TLS connection failed; no repository audit setting was changed. | Selection | Result | | --- | --- | | SDK GDS push/trust/transaction/rollback, net10.0 | **192 passed, 0 failed** | | SDK certificate-manager/provider/explicit-trust/validation-core, net10.0 | **180 passed, 0 failed** | | SDK certificate-manager/provider/explicit-trust/validation-core, net48 | **180 passed, 0 failed** | | SDK GDS push/trust/transaction/rollback, net48 | **192 passed, 0 failed** | | Final portable-PEM/compensation tests, net10.0 | **5 passed, 0 failed** | | Supporting PLC GDS/pending-key/compatibility selection, net10.0 | **29 passed, 0 failed** against this SDK source | The PLC tests exercise encrypted UA calls, signed PEM/CSR updates, persistence, fresh connections and restarts across Directory, FlatDirectory and KubernetesSecret providers. The Kubernetes API is an in-memory double, **not a real Kubernetes deployment**. PLC tests and its durable pending-key implementation are local companion-repository changes, not SDK PR contents or independently reproducible CI evidence from this branch alone. The initially empty artifact-directory `--no-restore` invocation produced no test execution and is **not** counted. Initial compile/test portability failures were fixed before the final results above. Full-solution attempts did **not** pass: ```powershell # Failed/incomplete: AMB server startup timed out in two tests; stopped after failures. dotnet test .\UA.slnx -c Release -f net48 -m:1 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48 -p:GeneratePackageOnBuild=false -p:UseArtifactsOutput=true "-p:ArtifactsPath=$net48" -p:NuGetAudit=false # Failed: NU1301 restoring OpenUsd-related projects due to nuget.org TLS handshake failure. dotnet test .\UA.slnx -c Release -f net10.0 -m:1 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 -p:GeneratePackageOnBuild=false -p:UseArtifactsOutput=true "-p:ArtifactsPath=$(Join-Path $files 'solution-net10')" -p:NuGetAudit=false ``` A retry through an already configured local package source progressed further, but the OneFuzz nested publish did not inherit the audit override and caused **210 setup failures (NU1900)**; the broad run was stopped. These runs are not a clean full-suite result. AMB startup failures have not been baseline-qualified and are not claimed to be fixed by this PR. `git diff --check` passed. A changed-file whitespace check reported seven pre-existing diagnostics at lines 371-424 of `CertificateManagerTests.cs`, outside this change (new tests start at line 563); no unrelated formatting sweep was made. **Remaining gates:** successful full solution on net48/net10.0, quantitative coverage, Linux, required CI/CodeQL, and applicable CTT/interoperability qualification. Keep this PR draft until the required gates are resolved; the tests above do not establish 100% OPC UA compliance. ## Related Issues _Reference all GitHub issues this PR addresses. Secure the UADP DataSetMetaData announcement on secured connections (#4712)
# Description `MetaDataPublisher` encoded the DataSetMetaData announcement itself and called `IPubSubTransport.SendAsync` directly. That bypassed the connection's security wrapper and its fail-closed check. A WriterGroup configured for `SignAndEncrypt` therefore announced its DataSet layout (field names, types, version) unsigned and unencrypted. A secured subscriber dropped the announcement (`Dropping unsecured inbound frame ... requiring SignAndEncrypt`, documented as an expected warning in docs/PubSub.md), and any listener could read it. OPC 10000-14 §6.2.5.2 applies the WriterGroup's SecurityMode to the NetworkMessages it publishes, and §7.2.4.6.3 carries the security of a discovery announcement in its SecurityHeader. Confirmed on the wire: the documented `udp-uadp` exchange sent secured DataSetMessages plus one DiscoveryResponse (announcement type 2, DataSetMetaData) with ExtendedFlags1 `0x81`, meaning the SecurityHeader bit was clear. Review feedback widened the scope to every UADP discovery message of a secured connection, and to the diagnostics of secured messages. Fix: - `MetaDataPublisher` builds the announcement and hands it to the connection (`PubSubConnection.SendMetaDataAnnouncementAsync`). - One encode-and-secure step (`PubSubConnection.EncodeOutboundAsync`) now serves data messages, discovery requests and responses, and the announcements that UDP and Ethernet send to their transport-specific discovery destination (ApplicationInformation, PublisherEndpoints, PubSubConnection). On a connection configured for message security, it applies the SecurityMode (`Sign`, or `SignAndEncrypt`) to UADP messages and refuses to send any message it cannot secure. - Before, a secured connection dropped its own discovery requests, so a secured subscriber could not ask for metadata, writer configuration, or endpoints. It also refused metadata and writer-configuration probe responses, and sent the transport-specific announcements in plaintext. - A discovery response or announcement that cannot be secured or sent is logged (`DiscoveryMessageNotSent`, Warning) and dropped. Securing announcements makes them depend on a current key; without this, a key provider with no key yet, for example before a Security Key Service delivers the first key, made `StartAsync` fail, and a probe response that could not be secured ended the receive loop. Requests sent through `RequestDiscoveryAsync` still throw to the caller. - Secured messages are counted in `SentNetworkMessages` and `SentDataSetMessages` like unsecured ones. Before, they bypassed the encoder that counts them, so secured data messages were never counted. - `UadpDiscoveryCoder` can encode a discovery message with the SecurityHeader bit set, and reports the security boundary after the PublisherId (and DataSetClassId), which is where `UadpDecoder.TryReadOuterPrefix` ends the prefix. `UadpEncoder.EncodeWithSecurityBoundary` accepts discovery messages. - The receive path is unchanged: it already unwraps secured discovery frames and registers authenticated metadata. - Not changed: the MQTT last-will status message is registered with the broker when the connection opens and published later, so it cannot carry a current SecurityHeader; it stays unsecured. - docs/PubSub.md no longer lists the unsecured-frame warning. It describes how the SecurityMode applies to announcements and discovery (`Sign` authenticates; `SignAndEncrypt` also encrypts) and the last-will exception. Tests: - `MetaDataPublisherTests.UadpPathSecuresTheAnnouncementOfASecuredWriterGroupAsync`: the announcement of a SignAndEncrypt WriterGroup carries a SecurityHeader, does not contain the DataSet name in cleartext, and unwraps and decodes with the subscriber's keys. Before the fix, the announcement had no SecurityHeader. - `MetaDataPublisherTests.SecuredNetworkMessagesAreCountedAsSentAsync`: before the fix, `SentNetworkMessages` read 0 on a secured connection. - `PubSubDiscoveryTests.SecuredSubscriberDiscoversSecuredPublisherWithoutPlaintextFramesAsync`: a secured subscriber and a secured publisher, connected through an in-memory transport that also sends announcements to a separate destination, discover metadata, writer configuration, and endpoints, and no frame lacks a SecurityHeader. Before the fix, the metadata request was dropped. With only the announcement change reverted, the PublisherEndpoints response was dropped. - `PubSubDiscoveryTests.StartupAnnouncementsWithoutACurrentKeyDoNotFailTheStartAsync` and `ReceiveLoopSurvivesADiscoveryResponseThatCannotBeSecuredAsync`: both failed before the fail-soft change. - `UadpDiscoveryTests.SecuredDiscoveryMessagesSplitWhereTheReceiverExpects`: for requests and responses, with and without a DataSetClassId, the secured encoding differs from the unsecured one only by the SecurityHeader flag, and its boundary equals the receiver's prefix length. - `UadpDiscoveryTests.EncodeWithSecurityBoundaryRejectsAMessageItCannotSecure`. ### Validation | Command | Result | | --- | --- | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Tests -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0` | 1498 passed, 1 skipped (the UDP multicast loopback discovery test, which this host skips) | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Tests -f net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48` | 1498 passed, 1 skipped | | `dotnet test` on net10.0 for `Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp.Tests`, `.Eth.Tests`, `.Mqtt.Tests`, `.Server.Tests`, `fuzzing/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Fuzz.Tests` | 234, 55, 157, 177, 149 passed | | `dotnet test` on net10.0 for `Opc.Ua.PubSub.Kafka.Tests`, `.Adapter.Tests`, `.Diagnostics.Tests`, `Opc.Ua.Redundancy.PubSub.Tests` (on |

Send UDP multicast on the network interface the transport joins (#4711)
# Description `UdpDatagramTransport` joined multicast groups on the resolved network interface: the connection address's `NetworkInterface`, the `PreferredNetworkInterface` option, or the first operational interface. It never set `IP_MULTICAST_IF` / `IPV6_MULTICAST_IF`, though, so multicast data and discovery announcements left through the operating system's default multicast route. On a computer with several network interfaces, a publisher configured for one network sent on another, and subscribers on the configured network missed the messages (OPC 10000-14 §7.3.2.2, `NetworkAddressDataType.NetworkInterface`). `ConfigureSocket` now sets the multicast send interface to the resolved interface for IPv4 and IPv6 sockets. That includes the separate socket that sends discovery announcements for loopback-bound connections. A failure is logged at Debug level, like the other socket options. **Behavior change:** without a configured interface, multicast now leaves through the first operational non-loopback interface, which is the interface subscribers join on, instead of the default multicast route. `docs/PubSub.md` and the XML docs of `PreferredNetworkInterface` and `UdpNetworkInterfaceResolver` describe this and recommend naming the interface on multi-homed computers. Tests (`UdpDatagramTransportMulticastInterfaceTests`): - The IPv4 and IPv6 egress options equal the resolved interface. Before the fix they were `0.0.0.0` and `0`. - A publisher and subscriber pinned to the loopback interface exchange a payload. A raw control sender tells a host without loopback multicast apart from a publisher that sends elsewhere. The test fails with the bug on Linux; Windows also delivers local copies sent on other interfaces, so there it only confirms the exchange. ### Validation | Command | Result | | --- | --- | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp.Tests -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0 --filter "FullyQualifiedName~UdpDatagramTransportMulticastInterfaceTests"`, with the fix temporarily disabled | IPv4 and IPv6 option tests failed (`Expected: <192.168.178.101> But was: <0.0.0.0>`, `Expected: 4 But was: 0`) | | The same tests from the Windows-built binaries in a Linux container (`mcr.microsoft.com/dotnet/sdk:10.0`, `dotnet test Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp.Tests.dll`), fix disabled, 5 runs | 3 of 3 failed in every run, including the loopback exchange (the control sender arrived, the publisher's multicast did not) | | Same, with the fix, 5 runs | 3 of 3 passed in every run | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp.Tests -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0` | 237 passed (Windows, and the same binaries in the Linux container) | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp.Tests -f net48 -p:CustomTestTarget=net48` | 232 passed | | `dotnet test tests/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Tests -f net10.0 -p:CustomTestTarget=net10.0` | 1490 passed, 1 skipped | | `dotnet build src/Opc.Ua.PubSub.Udp -c Release` (net10.0, net9.0, net8.0, net48) | 0 warnings | | The docs/PubSub.md first exchange (unicast loopback), run verbatim, with #4710 applied | 11 DataSets; the unsecured-frame warning appears once, as documented | ## Related Issues - No tracking issue. Let servers start in globalization-invariant mode (#4716)
# Description
A server did not start in globalization-invariant mode
(`InvariantGlobalization`, or
`DOTNET_SYSTEM_GLOBALIZATION_INVARIANT=1`), which Native AOT and
container images often enable. When the server loaded its default status
texts, `ResourceManager` created `CultureInfo("en-US")`. In this mode
the runtime throws `CultureNotFoundException` for every culture except
the invariant one, so the server crashed in
`ResourceManager.LoadDefaultText`.
`ResourceManager` now:
- keeps the locale id of each translation table as a string, and falls
back to its language subtag to find another region of the same language;
- when the runtime cannot create the culture, parses a locale id that
matches the grammar of RFC 5646 §2.1 into the recommended casing of its
subtags. It still rejects a language without a region, and rejects a tag
that does not match the grammar, as before;
- caches the resolved locale ids, so loading the default texts creates
each culture once.
`docs/NativeAoT.md` no longer warns against invariant mode for servers.
The new tests (`ResourceManagerInvariantGlobalizationTests`) reproduce
both invariant-mode behaviors of the runtime: no cultures at all, and
cultures that carry invariant data. They also cover malformed tags, and
well-formed tags with extended language, variant, extension, and private
use subtags.
The branch includes a merge of master: #4707 moved translation lookups
to a lock-free snapshot of the tables, and the snapshot now copies the
locale-id-based tables.

Update the guides and the MCP server docs for the 2.0.0 release (#4713)
# Description The packages on nuget.org are stable 2.0.0 now. The guides still told readers to use `--prerelease` and preview-only versions, and kept caveats that applied only to 2.0.0-preview.5 and earlier previews. Getting started, Your first information model, and Source-generated data types: - Add the packages without `--prerelease` and name 2.0.0 as the verified version. - With 2.0.0, a client with no server reports `BadNotConnected`, so the troubleshooting row drops the preview.5 `SocketException`. - 2.0.0 generates code for methods that declare their arguments inline, so the tutorial drops the preview.5 workaround note and its troubleshooting row, and says both forms are possible. MCP server (`docs/McpServer.md` and the tool's NuGet README `tools/Opc.Ua.Mcp/McpREADME.md`): - Install and run commands use the stable tool: `dotnet tool exec OPCFoundation.NetStandard.Opc.Ua.Mcp`, `dnx …`, and `dotnet tool install --global …`, without `--prerelease` or `2.0.0-preview.*`. - The stable tool bundles `Opc.Ua.Mcp.Robotics` and `Opc.Ua.Mcp.Vision`, so the note that `vision` and `vision, robotics` need the current source is removed. The docs now state that only the standalone `Mcp.Robotics` and `Mcp.Vision` libraries are preview packages (`2.0.0-preview.200`). - Not changed: `tools/Opc.Ua.Mcp/.mcp/server.json` still declares `"version": "1.0.0"` and lists only the original profiles in its description. ### Validation | Command | Result | | --- | --- | | Getting started Route B, the first-model tutorial, and every troubleshooting row, run exactly as documented against the 2.0.0 packages | Output matches the guides; 0 warnings | | Native AOT publish of the Route B server and client | 0 warnings; the native executables completed the trust flow and connected | | `dotnet tool exec OPCFoundation.NetStandard.Opc.Ua.Mcp -- --version`, `dnx OPCFoundation.NetStandard.Opc.Ua.Mcp -- --version`, `dotnet tool exec "OPCFoundation.NetStandard.Opc.Ua.Mcp@2.0.*" -- --version` | `2.0.0+bc5da1006…` for each | | `dotnet tool install` of `OPCFoundation.NetStandard.Opc.Ua.Mcp` without `--prerelease` (into a temporary tool path) | Installs 2.0.0 | | `dotnet tool exec` of an uncached version with stdin redirected, as an MCP client launches it | Runs without a confirmation prompt | | MCP stdio `initialize` + `tools/list` against the 2.0.0 tool with `--profile vision, robotics`, `vision`, `robotics`, `full` | 64, 26, 42, and 138 tools | | Markdown link, anchor, contents, and fence checks over `docs/` | 0 issues | ## Related Issues - No tracking issue. Server: cut request-path lock contention and allocation; add load harness (#4707)
Profiling the reference server under load showed most request-path CPU spent spinning on contended locks, plus several avoidable allocations per request or per node. This PR removes them, switches the reference server to Server GC, and adds the load harness used to measure it. ## Results Paired A/B against `master` (3 alternating rounds, medians, 20 sessions, workstation GC on both sides, 24-core machine): | Scenario | Throughput | p50 | p90 | Server CPU / op | Server alloc / op | Lock contention | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---| | Read, 1 value | **+45%** (94k → 137k req/s) | −20% | −46% | −37% | −39% | −94% | | Read, 100 values | **+40%** | −26% | −17% | −24% | −25% | +130% ¹ | | Read, 100 values, SignAndEncrypt | **+48%** | −36% | −20% | −30% | −26% | +106% ¹ | | Browse (Server object) | **+33%** | −31% | −12% | −13% | −14% | −40% | | Write, 100 values | +13% | −12% | −4% | −10% | −19% | −23% | | Data-change subscriptions | ±0 ² | ≈ | ≈ | −14% | −17% | −29% | ¹ The faster server spends more time in the remaining per-node locks. ² Throughput is bounded by the writer rate in this scenario. Separately, Server GC instead of workstation GC doubles Read-100 throughput (21k → 44k req/s) and cuts p90 from 2.1 ms to 0.6 ms, because workstation GC paused the server for about half the wall time under load. The working set grows from ~210 MB to ~430 MB. ## Changes - **`ObjectPool<T>`**: lock-free slot array. `ConcurrentBag.Count` took every per-thread lock on each `Return` of the pooled response value-task source, once per request. - **`FairRequestQueue`**: - drops redundant gate entries: the fail-fast pre-checks and the stopped check read volatile fields and are re-checked under the gate; the owner count is folded into selection; - coalesces wake pulses with a pending flag, so the bounded signal channel's lock is only taken when no token is outstanding. Wake-count semantics in the tests are unchanged. - **`DefaultServerResourceIsolationProvider`**: - compares peer addresses without `GetAddressBytes()` allocations; - builds the unsecured verification context only when a classifier is configured. - **TCP listener / channel**: caches the certificate DER copies per channel, keyed on the certificate instance. `X509Certificate2.RawData` returns a fresh copy on every access, and the listener read it for every request. - **`EndpointBase`**: resolves the request `ActivitySource` once instead of `Assembly.GetCallingAssembly()` per request. - **Node managers**: - one `ServerSystemContext` copy per request (cached on the `OperationContext`) for per-node callbacks: permission metadata, node metadata, view membership, method lookup; - removes a discarded copy in `GetReferenceDescriptionAsync`; - per-request operation caches are plain `Dictionary` instead of a `ConcurrentDictionary` with 24 lock objects; - the validation cache is built in one pass; - fixes zero-capacity error lists. - **`ResourceManager`**: translation lookups read an immutable snapshot that is rebuilt after writes. Browse serialised on the global lock for every display name. - **`MonitoredItem`**: shares the default `DataChangeFilter` instead of allocating one per sampled value. - **Reference server**: `ServerGarbageCollection=true`; new "Garbage collector mode" section in `docs/ServerScalability.md`. - **`perf/`**: `ServerLoadHarness` (out-of-process server plus load driver, server-side CPU/GC/alloc/contention deltas, optional `dotnet-trace` capture), `TraceAnalyzer` (TraceEvent-based CPU/allocation/contention aggregation), and paired A/B scripts. Not part of `UA.slnx`. ### Behaviour notes for custom node managers - The `IDictionary<NodeId, NodeState>` operation cache handed to overrides is now a `Dictionary`. It was a `ConcurrentDictionary`, but only one request flow uses it. - Within one request, per-node callbacks of a node manager share one `ServerSystemContext` copy. ### Later commits on this PR - **Permission checks without `NodeMetadata`** (`9068684c3`): the role-permission and access-restriction validators run on an internal `PermissionMetadata` struct; `AsyncCustomNodeManager` fills it on the stack from the same attributes and namespace defaults. Browse's reference filter reads 3 attributes per target instead of 13. Read 100 values: 120.6 → 95.7 KB/request, ~21k → 26k req/s; Browse 67.6 → 51.8 KB, 26.7k → 29.8k req/s. - **Read-only channel evidence** (`936b28d76`, `dc638ab9f`): `SecureChannelContext.ClientChannelCertificate`, `ServerChannelCertificate` and `ChannelThumbprint` are `ByteString`, so the cached per-channel certificate buffer is shared without a copy and cannot be altered by handlers or classifiers. **Public API change**, see the new section in `docs/MigrationGuide.md`. The isolation provider's revalidation snapshot still copies. - **Session lookup** (`936b28d76`): `SessionManager.TryGetSessionContext` takes the candidate snapshot without the bindings lock; the validating check under the lock is unchanged (2 instead of 4 global lock acquisitions per request). - Unit tests for `ObjectPool`, the per-request system context cache, the translation snapshot, `SecureChannelContext` null semantics and a stopped `FairRequestQueue`; `perf/` follows the repository conventions. ## Testing - `Opc.Ua.Server.Tests` (net10.0): 8386 passed before the `ByteString` change. After it, 13 secure-session and isolation tests failed; both causes are fixed in `dc638ab9f` and those tests (25 with their variants) pass. A full rerun of the Server, Sessions, Core, Redundancy, LDS and GDS suites on the final commit is in progress. - Full solution builds for net10.0 and net48; `dotnet format whitespace` clean. ### o6-automation opcua-benchmarks (sampling, deep pipelines) Replicated both tests of the [o6-automation benchmark](https://github.com/o6-automation/opcua-benchmarks) in the harness (`--scenario counters`, and `read` with 10 clients × N outstanding), paired against `origin/master`: | Test | master | this PR | |---|---|---| | Subscription sampling, 100 Hz, every item ≥ 99 % of samples, 1 item | FAIL (75–94 %) | PASS (100 %) | | same, 1024 items | FAIL (64–73 %) | PASS (99.9 %) | | same, capacity | — | between 4096 and 6144 items (~410–520k samples/s) | | Read, 10 clients × 100 outstanding, None | stalls (0–1.7k req/s) | 121–131k req/s | | Read, 10 clients × 100 outstanding, SignAndEncrypt | stalls (0 req/s) | 89–91k req/s | | Read, 10 clients × 1000 outstanding | channels faulted (`BadTcpNotEnoughResources`) | 0 errors, ~45–54k req/s | - **Fixed-rate sampling** (`30b769d13`): the sampling loop waited one interval after each sample, adding timer overshoot and sampling time to every cycle; samples now have absolute deadlines. - **Async response send** (`cdac5c5ca`): `SendResponse` blocked thread-pool workers on the channel gate; with many requests in flight the receive loop that was handed the gate waited for a pool thread and the channel stalled. The TCP, Kestrel TCP and WebSocket listeners now use `SendResponseAsync`. - **Backpressure instead of channel fault** (`191cd2ba7`): server channels stop reading while more than 100 responses are queued and resume at 50, instead of faulting the channel. Client channels keep reading. At 10,000 outstanding requests throughput is ~50k req/s with or without the limit engaged, so the remaining gap to the 100-per-client case is not the backpressure. ## Not changed - `SentMessageQueue` deep-clones every `NotificationMessage`. Retained messages return their pooled payloads on acknowledgement while the response copy may still be queued for send, and a client can acknowledge a sequence number before receiving it; the clone keeps a recycled payload from reaching another session's response. Removing it needs a send-completion hook from the transport. - Generated responses allocate a default `ResponseHeader` that is replaced (~2-3 % of per-request allocation). Fixing it means making structure fields of every generated type lazily initialized, a generator-wide change to default values, equality and encoding. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Enable AES-GCM and ChaCha20-Poly1305 policies on net48 via BouncyCastle (stacked on #4703) (#4705)
> Follow-up to #4703 (now merged to master; this PR has been retargeted
to `master`).
Part of #4510. #4703 enabled the CBC ECC policies on net48 through a
BouncyCastle raw-ECDH polyfill. The AEAD policies were still unavailable
there because .NET Framework has no `AesGcm` or `ChaCha20Poly1305`. This
PR adds those ciphers the same way, so on net48 all of these are now
offered:
`ECC_{nistP256,nistP384,brainpoolP256r1,brainpoolP384r1}_AesGcm` /
`_ChaChaPoly`, `RSA_DH_AesGcm`, `RSA_DH_ChaChaPoly`.
## Changes
- **Polyfill**
`src/Opc.Ua.Security.Certificates/Org.BouncyCastle/AeadCiphers.cs`
(internal, `#if NETFRAMEWORK`, next to `EcdhRawAgreement`): `AesGcm` and
`ChaCha20Poly1305` types with the .NET 8 BCL surface. They wrap
BouncyCastle's `GcmBlockCipher(AesEngine)` and
`Org.BouncyCastle.Crypto.Modes.ChaCha20Poly1305`.
- A tag mismatch throws `CryptographicException`, never BC's
`InvalidCipherTextException`, so
`PlatformSymmetricCryptoProvider.DecryptAuthenticated` still returns
`false` and the channel still raises a protocol error.
- GCM releases plaintext blocks before it checks the tag, so plaintext
stays in a scratch buffer and is copied out only after the tag verifies.
On failure the destination is cleared, as the BCL does. Scratch buffers
and the key copy are zeroed.
- **Opc.Ua.Core**: aliases the polyfill types on `NETFRAMEWORK` and
removes the `NET8_0_OR_GREATER` gates in `SecurityPolicies`
(`SupportsAesGcmPolicy` / `SupportsChaCha20Poly1305Policy`),
`CryptoUtils` (`SymmetricEncryptAndSign` / `SymmetricDecryptAndVerify`,
AEAD helpers) and `PlatformSymmetricCryptoProvider`. The channel, the
provider facet and the encrypted ECC user tokens (`EncryptedSecret`,
through `CryptoUtils`) now run the same code on every target. .NET 8+
keeps the BCL ciphers.

WoT: move GeneratesEvent off Object instances (OPC 10000-3 §7.15) (#4706)
Fixes #4669. OPC 10000-3 §7.15 says the SourceNode of `GeneratesEvent` "shall be an ObjectType, a VariableType or a Method". CTT `Base Info Core Structure 2 001.js` flags every Object that is the source of one. #4667 fixed this in the source generator. This PR fixes the three remaining WoT places. ### 1. WotCon asset registry - `AssetRegistry.BuildEventNode` / `RemoveEventTypes` no longer add or remove `GeneratesEvent` from the asset Object. Event delivery already relies on `EventNotifier = SubscribeToEvents` and root-notifier registration. - Tests now assert the reference is **absent** and the notifier bit is set. The re-apply test asserts that the old EventType node is gone. ### 2. WoT NodeSet converter (`src/Opc.Ua.Types/Wot`) - **TD → NodeSet:** a last pass (`RelocateInstanceGeneratesEvent`) moves forward `GeneratesEvent` references off an Object/Variable root: - An event the bound type already declares needs nothing more. Matching is by qualified BrowseName against the local context's declarations, the same rule as the declaration merge. - Any other event is declared by a synthesized non-abstract `<rootLocal>Type`. It derives from the bound type (or from `BaseObjectType` / `BaseDataVariableType` when the TD binds none) and becomes the instance's `HasTypeDefinition`. A Variable root gets a `UAVariableType` with the instance's DataType and ValueRank. - Thing Models are unchanged: the projected type keeps its `GeneratesEvent`. - **NodeSet → TD:** - An instance's event affordances are now collected from its type definition and that type's supertypes. Instance-level `GeneratesEvent` is still read for third-party NodeSets. - In a single readable document, a type that only carries one instance's events (only `HasSubtype` + `GeneratesEvent`, typing exactly one instance) is not chosen as root. It is folded back: its supertype becomes the type binding, and no link is written when that supertype is the default base type. The TD → NodeSet → TD round trip stays readable, with no `uav:nodes` fallback. - A document set gives the carrier its own Thing Model, and the instance TD binds to it. - **Archive check:** an event affordance is accepted when the root's type definition, or one of its supertypes, generates it. - `docs/WoTNodeSetConversion.md` documents the behaviour in a new "Event source" row. ### 3. Aggregation sample - `SamplePump.NodeSet2.xml`: each pump is typed by its own `PumpType` subtype, `ns=1;s=Pump1.Type` (`Pump_1Type`) and `Pump2.Type`, which declares its alarm EventTypes. - It is per pump because each pump owns its alarm EventTypes. `Pump2.Type` is cloned with the rest of Pump2. - The pumps keep `EventNotifier="1"` and no longer carry `GeneratesEvent`. - The checked-in documents are regenerated, adding `sample-pump-pump-1type.json` / `-2type.json`. The pump TDs still list the alarm event affordances. - The sample binding lookup ignores Thing Models, because the type's TM declares the same EventType as the pump TD. A declaration missing from the instance still fails as before. - Docs: `WoTConnectivity.md` (asset event affordances, §12.4.2) and `WotBindings.md`. The `GeneratesEvent` clause in the sample-limitation note was already stale, so I removed it. ### Runtime check `WotNativeOwnershipIndex` only uses `GeneratesEvent` in its alias table. Projected event routing takes the owner from `uav:componentOf` / `uav:id` and the notifier from Parent/`HasNotifier`. Nothing in `Opc.Ua.WotCon.Server` reads an instance-level `GeneratesEvent`. ### Tests (net10.0) - `Opc.Ua.Types.Tests`: 11446 passed, 1 skipped. New `WotInstanceEventSourceTests` covers object and variable roots, TMs, the TD with no events, the folded round trip, the legacy instance reference and the document set. Two bound-type cases were added to `WotDeclarationMergeBoundaryTests`. - `Opc.Ua.WotCon.Bindings.Tests`: 714 passed. - `Opc.Ua.WotCon.Tests`: 1496 passed, including the byte-exact sample regeneration tests. - net48 build of both test projects is clean, and `dotnet format whitespace` is clean. Not run: CTT `Base Info Core Structure 2 001.js` (p02-base-info) against a WotCon server. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Marc Schier <marcschier@users.noreply.github.com> |

Redundancy.Server session mirroring: fix fast reconnect lifecycle (#4627) (#4704)
Fixes #4627 — the eight Redundancy.Server session mirroring defects (HotAndMirrored fast reconnect). ## Changes | ID | Fix | |----|-----| | RS-1 | The owning replica mirrors a liveness heartbeat (`LastContactAt`), written at most once per quarter of the session timeout while the client uses the session (`DistributedSessionOptions.LivenessInterval`, default 1 s). A restore expires the timeout after the later of the last activation and the last mirrored contact, plus the heartbeat's maximum lag. | | RS-2 | Entries record their owning replica (`OwnerId`). Only the owner mirrors and deletes the entry. A restore takes ownership with a conditional write. A stale copy on the previous replica is dropped without deleting the entry, both when its heartbeat sees the change and when the client fails back to it. `ISharedSessionStore` gains `TryReplaceAsync`, `TryRemoveAsync` and `EnumerateAsync`. Over a store without CAS (the CRDT gossip store) they fall back to compare-then-write. | | RS-3 | A restored session keeps the SessionId from `CreateSession`: `Session.RequestedId`, and `DiagnosticsNodeManager` honours a requested id when it is free. `DistributedSessionManager` mints GUID SessionIds that are unique across the replica set. Continuation points therefore stay under one owner id across repeated failovers. | | RS-4 | Sessions whose user token is encrypted with an ECC/RSA-DH EphemeralKey are flagged. Their restore is rejected up front (`EphemeralKeyUnavailable`), before anything is consumed or counted as a failed authentication. The documented option from the issue was chosen over mirroring ephemeral private keys. | | RS-5 | New `SessionManager.AdmitRestoredSessionAsync` hook: the mirrored nonce is consumed only after the restored activation has passed the signature, identity and continuity checks. If a restored session's first activation fails, the session is discarded without the virtual close, so the shared entry is untouched. Restored copies that are not admitted now also release their diagnostics node, and `CurrentSessionCount` is balanced for restored sessions. | | RS-6 | Expired entries are deleted on restore and by a periodic sweep (`SweepInterval`, default 5 min). The sweep also purges consumed-nonce markers that no live entry references and that are older than `NonceMarkerRetention` (default 1 h), via `ISingleUseNonceRegistry.PurgeAsync`. | | RS-7 | `SharedKeyValueSessionStore` and `DistributedSessionManagerFactory` now throw for an external store without an `IRecordProtector`, as the DI registration already does. Pass `NullRecordProtector.Instance` to opt out explicitly. | | RS-8 | Entries carry the original server certificate. A restored session accepts a client signature over either that certificate or its own one (`Session.OriginalServerCertificate`). | Entries are now written at `SecurityStateVersion` 5. Entries at versions 3 and 4 can still be restored, without an owner. ### API changes (Redundancy.Server) - New members on `ISharedSessionStore` and `ISingleUseNonceRegistry`. - An optional `TimeProvider` parameter on `SharedSingleUseNonceRegistry`. - New `DistributedSessionOptions` properties. - `SharedSessionEntry` v5 fields. - `SharedKeyValueSessionStore` and `DistributedSessionManagerFactory` throw for external stores without a protector. ## Tests - New unit tests for every finding: the restore/heartbeat/ownership/sweep/SessionId paths of `DistributedSessionManager`; store conditional writes, the CAS fallback and v5 round-trips; the registry purge; the factory/store guard; base `SessionRestoreTests` (admitted once, discarded on validation failure or rejected admission); and `SessionOriginalServerCertificateTests`. - New end-to-end test `SessionUsedPastItsTimeoutFailsOverWithItsSessionIdAsync`. The client uses the session for 2× its timeout, then fails over. The test checks that the SessionId is preserved and that the standby serves that SessionId and owns the entry. It also closes the stale copy and checks the entry survives. With the heartbeat disabled, the test fails as expected. - Local net10.0 runs: Redundancy.Server.Tests 883/883, Server.Tests 8347 passed / 5 skipped, Sessions.Tests 849 passed / 379 skipped (the usual baseline). The net48 build is clean. The Redundancy session tests pass on net48; the ECC-only cases are skipped there. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Enable ECC security policies on net48 via a BouncyCastle raw-ECDH polyfill (#4703)
Closes #4510. ## Summary OPC UA Part 6 feeds the **raw** ECDH shared secret into HKDF. .NET Framework only exposes `ECDiffieHellman.DeriveKeyMaterial`, which always hashes it, so the ECC SecureChannel and user-token policies were unavailable on `net48` (`SecurityPolicies.GetInfo` returned `null`). This adds a BouncyCastle polyfill for just that primitive: - **`Opc.Ua.Security.Certificates/Org.BouncyCastle/EcdhRawAgreement.cs`** (`net48` only): an internal `DeriveRawSecretAgreement(this ECDiffieHellman, ECDiffieHellmanPublicKey)` extension using `ECDHBasicAgreement`. It returns the X coordinate padded to the field size, exactly like the .NET 8 BCL method. Keys stay CNG keys; ECDSA signatures and HKDF stay on the platform — only the agreement step is managed code. The point is validated (on curve, not infinity) and mismatched curves are rejected. - Because the extension mirrors the .NET 8 signature, `Nonce.GenerateSecret` now has one code path on every target. - `SupportsRawEccSecretAgreement()` is removed; the CBC-based ECC policies (`ECC_nistP256`, `ECC_nistP384`, `ECC_brainpoolP256r1`, `ECC_brainpoolP384r1`) are offered on every target (still subject to OS curve support). - BouncyCastle was already a `net48` dependency of `Opc.Ua.Security.Certificates`; no new package. (Only `net48` is downlevel now — `netstandard2.1`/`net472` from the issue text are no longer targets.) **Not in scope:** the `_AesGcm` / `_ChaChaPoly` ECC variants (and PubSub DTLS) still need .NET 8 because .NET Framework has no AEAD ciphers — follow-up stacked on this branch. ## Docs `EccProfiles.md` (Known limitations), `migrate/2.0.x/certificates.md`, `ProductionChecklist.md`, `Profiles.md`, `WhatsNewIn2.0.md`. Calls out that on `net48` the agreement step does not run in a FIPS/validated module. ## Tests (local) | Suite | Result | |---|---| | `Opc.Ua.Core.Tests` full, net48 | 5956 passed, 0 failed | | `EccInteropTests` net48 vs 1.5.378 peer (net8.0, native raw ECDH) | 26 passed; 28 skipped (AEAD + curve25519/448) — all four CBC curves, both directions, UserName tokens, token renewal | | `Opc.Ua.Sessions.Tests` ECC filter, net48 | 52 passed, 0 failed | | Server `SessionCoverageTests`/`EphemeralNonce*`, Configuration builder tests, net48 | all pass | | Nonce/ECC/EncryptedSecret + session tests, net10.0 | all pass | New tests: symmetric agreement on all four curves; on net48 an oracle against CNG (`SHA256(raw) == DeriveKeyFromHash`); curve mismatch and off-curve rejection. Tests that asserted the old net48 limitation were updated. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |
