the equivalent options have been deprecated since mpv 0.35 in ac39661
and 2207236.
also bumping the MPV_CLIENT_API_VERSION to 2.5, since 2.4 was forgotten
in 6f619d5.
82231fd74d mentioned that for the "rot"
transform flip=true must be set, which "makes no sense at all".
The reason this is happening is that the rotation matrix calculation
is only valid for the 2D coordinate system where y axis is 90 degrees
counterclockwise from x axis, but the coordinate system of chroma
offset has its origin at top-left so it is the opposite, which results
in the rotation going to the opposite way. Setting flip=true fixes the
rotation direction, but results in a flipped y coordinate.
Fix this by reversing the rotation angle for chroma offset rotation
matrix calculation. This also allows removing some duplicated code.
The libplacebo colorspace hint api makes sense for things like vulkan,
but for other APIs like drm that are capable of directly handling
colorspaces and hdr metadata it's a nuisance. Add a pass_colorspace fns
that signals to vo_gpu_next that the backend doesn't need the color
information to be manipulated and can handle the metadata itself.
For most actual desktop users, vulkan should be the a superior
experience over opengl as this point and our autoprobe should pick that.
For linux users, vulkan on wayland is rapidly seeing improvements and is
far ahead of egl. There is no sign of that changing anytime soon and
working fifo is on the horizon, so really wayland users should just all
be using vulkan from now on. For x11, there is not a big difference
between using egl vs vulkan as far as I know and both work well. macOS
already prefers the vulkan backend over the libmpv one anyways, and
finally windows still defaults to d3d11. Probably virtually no one uses
opengl on windows, but vulkan is reasonably common among windows users
and it doesn't make any sense to prefer opengl over it.
The two outliers here are Android and VK_KHR_display. On Android, vulkan
drivers are probably just a total disaster and let's not put ourselves
in that mess if there's no reason to. For VK_KHR_display, it actually
works fine except for one really big problem: VT switching doesn't work.
If you try it, enjoy losing all input and being forced to do a hard
reboot. It might be fixable if you use logind or something, but the
method of using signals like the drm context does won't work because
VK_KHR_display uses render nodes not primary nodes. Also, the opengl drm
context could support hdr in theory (some attempts were made but none
succesful) so it is probably "better". Maybe. Anyways, for these two
platforms, we still prefer opengl.
Even Debian stable has them, so no need to keep compatible with ancient
versions.
Note that this does not change runtime version requirement for Vulkan.
Fixes: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv-build/issues/234
This allows Tab completing them in the console and zsh, and using cycle
scale.
jinc is also added to --tscale=help's output, while before it was
missing because validate_scaler_opt() skipped filter windows with the
same name as a filter kernel, but the jinc kernel was skipped with
--tscale because it is polar.
As the first step towards handling scenarios where the are multiple hwdecs for
a given image format but backed by different AVHWDeviceTypes, let us annotate
the hwdecs with their corresponding device types.
From this, we can also see how all the existing hwdecs which match the same
image format also match the same device type.
It won't be TA allocated and would fail on header check. Also
documentation doesn't mention that ownership is transfered to mpv, so it
is unexpected.
This will cause existing clients of this API leak this memory, but I
doubt anyone really used it in this broken state.
Fixes: #14633
This will allow reiniting the VO when more options are changed without
hardcoding them in options.c
Also reinit the VO when changing --gpu-debug and --gpu-sw.
This follows up 96e1f1dfa5 which converted --gpu-context, and has the
same advantages as listed there.
Unlike with --gpu-context auto can be used anywhere in the list, e.g.
--gpu-api=d3d11,auto works.
I wanted to use the list of GPU contexts as the description in
get_type_desc(), but there is no talloc context to allocate it to, so I
set a print_help_list to print them. The APIs go before the contexts so
that etc/_mpv.zsh doesn't try to complete the contexts.
This function is used to reject invalid context names early, and without
it the context fails to create and only audio is played, but it doesn't
need to check for known entries again.
Most of these are pretty obscure things that were replaced a long time
ago. The special messages they were printing are also not really useful
at all so just remove them.
No need to reset mp_pass_perf which is only read when desc.len > 0.
This avoids zeroing >16384 uint64_t's every time it's called.
Profiling shows that this reduces CPU usage for frame rendering by ~4%.
DXGI debug interface encapsulate multiple message queues, which allows
to get validation not only for D3D11 calls, but also DXGI ones.
Also this makes leak detector not report self debug interface as alive
like it was before. And same as with validation, it has ability to
detect more alive objects, not being limited to D3D11.
Now that obj_settings_list is used for GPU contexts, detailed
descriptions can be added so that --gpu-context=help can print
the descriptions of the GPU contexts using standard
obj_settings_list help printing.
This adds a dummy context at the start of the context lists, which
serves three purposes:
- The "auto" option is listed for --gpu-context=help.
- Some special handlings of "auto" string are removed.
- Make sure that lists have at least one element, so MP_ARRAY_SIZE()
works as intended.
Since the list of available GPU contexts is a compile time constant,
use obj_settings_list instead of opt_string_validate for GPU contexts.
This has several advantages:
- Aligns with the existing usage of vo, ao, and filter lists.
- Allows custom probing order.
- Allows list option suffixes. (--gpu-context-append, etc.)
- Allows autocomplete in console.lua.
- Uses the standard obj_settings_list help printing, so the custom
help printing function is no longer needed.
This also deduplicates some context creation code for ra_ctx_create
and ra_ctx_create_by_name.
For image formats with 2 or more chroma planes such as YU12, there is
a plane merging pass for these planes calling finish_pass_tex which
does a format conversion. After this conversion, the cscale shader
afterwards works properly.
However, for image formats with only 1 chroma plane (semi-planar formats),
including NV12 and P010, this merging pass is never called, which breaks
the cscale shader afterwards if the video is rotated with subsampled
chroma.
Fix this by adding an explicit conversion pass if this situation is
detected after the pre-scale hooks, so if there are shaders hooking on
CHROMA (like the deband filter) and the conversion is done by pass_hook
already, this conversion won't be called.
The opt validator functions are casted to generic validator, which has
erased type for value. Calling function by pointer of different
definition is an UB.
Avoid that by generating wrapper function that does proper argument type
conversion and calls validator function. Type erased functions have
mangled type in the name.
Fixes UBSAN failures on Clang 17, which enabled fsanitize=function by
default.
The --alpha option currently covers two related but different concepts:
whether or not to ignore the alpha component and possibly blending it
with a background. Because of the way the option currently works, it is
impossible to have a transparent window (which requires setting
--alpha=yes) while blending it with the background at the same time. To
solve this, let's rework it so it it superseded by the background
option.
--background controls what kind of background to set for the image if
possible. It can be blended with the set background color, with tiles,
or not blended at all (the last one is still broken on X11/mesa except
for GLX, *sigh*). In this new paradigm, --alpha=no has no real purpose
because you can simply set the background to color and whatever color
you want for exactly the same effect. So the option is removed. Instead,
the hint set by windowing backends (i.e. setting
ra_ctx->opts.want_alpha) can by done with the --background option.
As an aside, the colors in vo_gpu are currently bugged due to not
pre-multiplying the alpha and it seems no one ever noticed. The next
commit fixes that. vo_gpu_next support happens latter since it requires
new things from libplacebo.
Fixes#9615.
Previous fix only worked when the video output doesn't have vertical
black bars. This fixes the cases like fullscreen, video-zoom etc.
Fixes: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/13528
When doing the dithering pass, the fragment coordinate is queried, but
doesn't take the fbo texture flipped property into account. This results
in different dithering patterns when toggling between fbo flipped and
non-flipped state. This can be reproduced with --vo=gpu --gpu-api=opengl
and easily seen with --dither-depth=1 when toggling between playing and
pausing.
Fix this by flipping the fragment y coordinate if the fbo is flipped
when calculating dithering coordinate.
When redrawing cached frames while the fbo texture is flipped,
the texture after drawing to screen pass will be flipped when blitting.
However, when rendering the checkerboard, the fragment coordinate
doesn't take this into account, so the coordinate before flipping is used,
resulting in different checkerboard location when toggling between
flipped and non-flipped state. This can be reproduced with --vo=gpu
and --gpu-api=opengl: the checkerboard patterns when playing and
pausing are different (vertically flipped).
Fix this by flipping the fragment y coordinate if the fbo is flipped
when calculating checkerboard coordinate.
